I wondered about that first image until I got to the end, a sense of humour for sure;)
I also have a fascination with cemeteries, perhaps because of my wild imagination, I read the inscriptions, and always wonder about the lives of those people.
Here, most of the municipalities neglect them, and they're also hotspots for criminals to rob people, so you can't go alone anymore. So callous!
I agree, it does seem like a waste of land, but nowadays people mostly go for cremations. Our municipality is now looking at re-using grave sites if families do not renew the lease, which most people do not even know needs renewal! Or if they cannot get in touch with family.
Onto better stuff, there's a poem about the dash between the birth and death dates, and how we need to make the most of that dash!

To tell you the truth, I was a bit scared wandering Montjuic too, just because it's so huge and seemed deserted in the middle of a hot day. I worried about miscreants. Sorry to hear that's a thing where you are. Knowing the usual people who tend to go to cemeteries, a robber or attacker is the last thing they need.
I didn't know about the poem. Thank you for that :) It's lovely and very true. That's the smallest, yet most important bit on the damn stone, isn't it?
