Today Im sharing some photographies I took this past Sunday when I attened the Day of the Pedestrian at my city Cochabamba, this is a celebration of the day where no vehicles are allowed to drive across the city to give the Mother Earth and the enviroment in general a break from pollution, people take the streets with their bicycles, and they enjoy the day with various activities.
Some concerts take place, and some games, parties, and all sort of stuff and gonna share in this post. I recorded some clips and I made a vlog on my little adventure, so if you are intrigued take a look at my video.
In this post I will post a lot of pictures because I wanted to experiment with photography filter of my favorite app called PIXLR.
FILTERS SOPHIA AND HAGRID
Today I wanted to share a very cool effect I discovered.
Lately I have been working on producing content related on street photography, currently my favorite genre, I usually post some images on Leothreads.
I am using filters for these types of photography, I always use an app for this purpose, I used to work with GIMP, that I highly recommend, I think the effects of this software are more for an artistic style so now I realized that I need more cool effects so now I changed my tool for an app that renders high resolution pics, called Pixlr.
It has various types of cool effects built in, but it lacks what GIMP has, artistic ones. But right now I am not doing that, I am focused on Urban street photography and this little app has everything I need.
I realized that there is a particular effect called "HAGRID" it has good contrast, right now I will put some photographies a BEFORE and AFTER
This is the Hagrid effect perfect for Urban street photography
WITHOUT THE HAGRID EFFECT:
WITH THE HAGRID EFFECT:
I like this effect a lot, but there is another effect that caught my attention aswell, and I have used it on my previous photography post, the one that is called SOPHIA. The particularity of this filter is one, the mark it has a built in mark effect and I think the colors are more alive.
I think it gives a Nostalgia feel on the pictures. Take a look:
NORMAL PHOTOGRAPHY without ANY EFFECT:
With the SOPHIA FILTER
Sometimes it is hard to choose to be honest, but after a meditation I feel like for portraits and people in general, the SOPHIA fits perfect fot the job and for places and urban settings and landscapes I feel like HAGRID is the one to go. But that is just my opinion. If you have any suggestion I would like to know.
In this post I will post both pictures, the original one and the one with the effect. Because as always Im using my blog also as a data base server, because I guess Im running out of space on my hard drive and my PC.
Thats why I love this blockchain so much, its not just a blog or a blockchain it can be used also as a server ( since my photographies usually are not over 10 megabytes )
SOPHIA EFFECT
I cropped some of the photo because I wanted the photography to focus more on the couple of people in the center and I applied the SOPHIA filter:
NOW if you mix both filters at once you get an interesting effect, almost like a drawing, it could work for an album cover or a book cover but most of the time is just too much. Not in this case though.
Many activities were taking place around the city, for example this was a game for kids where they teach kids a little bit of Road Safety Education, this was organized by the police. Very interesting and fun way to learn useful stuff while you are entertained playing games.
You guessed it I used the Hagrid effect on this one:
People are so happy with the simplest things, I love it.
Some kids were playing with water with the firefighters of the city, it was a hot day so it wasso refreshing!
Sometimes I like to use the GIF app for android to glue two pictures I took in the same spot, it gives life to the pictures. It looks funny too.
HAGRID EFFECT
SOPHIA
This picture is from La Plaza de las Banderas, Flags Saquare, its calledlike that because in fact as you can see we have a ton of flags of light blue color because thats the flag of the City and in the center the Booloivian Flag, the Red, yellow and green, colorsof the Kantuta flower a symbol of the country, this place is in El Prado, people gathered there for a refreshing time because there is a fountain, with a weird looking sculpture with faces.
You can see there was a lot of people. This is behind the main stage.
In this case I applied both filtersHagrid and Sophia TO get the full contrast effect with the nostalgia one.
THE DANCE
Sometimes you just dont need a filter because the pictures speak for itself and the light is perfect, that was the case in this.
It was almost like 2 p.m. and a group of kids were playing rock classics of Rock and roll, I remember Green Day, the boulevard of Broken dreams, I made a livestream because the nostalgia hitted hard and I wanted to share, thats why I didnt take any pictures.
But when I got a seat on the front, a folk music band was playing, as you can see in the video, bolivian music is really happy and people started to get excited and first a few people were dancing having a good time, and then more people started to join the party.
And the party started, all kinds of people were really happy. Its one of those magical moments when all of the sudden everything just clicks.
Hagrid
Normal
As you can see by the photography of Before and after the application of the filter, it gives a plus to every picture.
So I highly recommend it. Mainly because this effects are time savers, and you can regulate them at will.
So thats the post for today, I hope you enjoyed as much as I did making it. Until next time with more adventures!
