Warum ein solches Portrait?

Manchmal möchte man ja etwas Besonderes, nicht die zwanzigste Portraitphotographie, auf der man sich wieder nicht so gelungen abgebildet fühlt. Oder man möchte einem lieben Menschen mal ein ganz anderes Erinnerungsstück von sich präsentieren. Das jedenfalls sind oft die Beweggründe derer, die ein solches Lightpaintingportrait wünschen.
Durch farbiges Licht entsteht ein interressanter Effekt, der das Verweilen beim Ansehen des Bildes fördert.

Wieso sehen die so verschieden aus?

Bei den Fotos habe ich mit unterschiedlichen Techniken gearbeitet.
Das Foto mit Andre entstand, indem ich ein Prisma vor der Kamera befestigte und eine RGB-Taschenlampe mittels Adapter an den schwarzen Glasfaserpinsel anbrachte. Dadurch dass das Licht der LEDs sich bei Mischfarben in einzelne verschiedene Farbbestandteile aufteilt, entsteht der Multifarbeffekt. Indem ich beim Gesicht die Glasfasern etwas entfernt gehalten habe, entstand die Ausleuchtung des Gesichts. Die gleiche Technik benutzte ich beim Foto von Emily.

Das Foto von Erik als Sombra entstand in ähnlicher Technik. Ich nutzte aber hier UV-Schminke, um das Gesicht zu schminken und leuchtete Erik mittels UV- Taschenlampe ein. Die Strukturen entstanden dann wieder mittels RGB-Lampe und Glasfaserpinsel.

Das folgende Foto entstand mittels einer anderen Technik. Wir haben in unserem Kamerafundus auch eine umgebaute Nikon D300 für Infrarotfotographie. Diese nutzte Sven mit einem Infrarotfilter um das Portrait von mir mit infrarotem Licht zu belichten, dann wechselte er zum Helios 44/2, um die Blasen oder Quallen zu kreieren. Mittels der schwarzen Glasfasern und einer Lightpainters Taschenlampe von @ryuslightworks im Einzelblitzmodus kreierte Sven dann die kleinen Blasen.

Das Portrait von Erik, der in das Mausoleum guckt, entstand mittels schwarzer Glasfaser und weißer Taschenlampe. Das Mausoleum habe ich einfach mit einer von Sven selbst gebauten lichtstarken Farblampe ausgeleuchtet. Der Effekt des Hineinguckens entstand durch einen Ortswechsel der Kamera. Während der Bewegung war die Kamera abgedeckt und nicht ausgeschaltet, da Lightpaintings in einer Belichtung aufgenommen werden. Sie werden auch nicht mittels Photoshop oder Ähnlichem nachträglich bearbeitet.

Ich liebe Dich / Model: Nicole - I love you

Das Portrait von Nicole entstand während einer Reise nach Görlitz. Nicole ist gehörlos, so war das Arbeiten im Dunkeln ein wenig komplizierter als sonst, wo man ja mündliche Anweisungen geben kann. Wir beide kommunizierten mittels Lichtsignalen. Das Foto zeigt die Gebärde für "ich liebe Dich" und war ein Geschenk an Ihren Freund.
Bei diesem Bild leuchtete ich den Raum mittels Farbscheinwerfern aus und nutzte ein Tube mit Scheinwerferfolie um den "Schal" zu kreieren. Nicole leuchtete ich mittels Taschenlampe ein. Dies ist auch eins meiner ersten Lightpaintings.
Für Portraitphotographie nutze ich meist die Nikon D 750 mit folgenden Objektiven: Meyer Optik Görlitz 35/2 oder Nikkor 17-35/ 2,8

Why lightpainting for a portrait?

Sometimes you want something special, not the twentieth portrait in which you feel you have not been portrayed so well, or you want to give a loved one a completely different memento of yourself. These are often the reasons for those who want a light painting portrait.
Coloured light also creates an interesting effect that encourages people to linger while looking at it.

Why do they look so different?

The photos were taken while using different techniques. The picture with Andre was taken by attaching a prism in front of the camera and an RGB torch to the black optic fibre brush. The multi-colour effect is created by the fact that the light from the LEDs split into individual colour components in the case of mixed colours. By holding the glass fibres slightly away from the face, I created the illumination of the face. I used the same technique for the photo of Emily.
The picture of Erik as Sombra was taken using a similar technique. However, I used UV make-up to paint the face and illuminated the face with a UV torch. The structures were then created using an RGB lamp and the black fibre optic brush.

The photo of me was taken using a different technique. We also have a Nikon D300 in our camera collection that has been converted for infrared photography. Sven used this with an infrared filter to expose the portrait of me with infrared light, then he switched to the Helios 44/2 to create the bubbles or jellyfish. Using the black glass fibres and a Lightpainters torch from @ryuslightworks in single flash mode so he created the small bubbles.

Model Erik

The photo of Erik where he is looking into the mausoleum was taken by using black fibreglass and a white torch. I simply illuminated the mausoleum with
a high-intense coloured lamp that Sven had built himself. The effect of looking into the mausoleum was created by moving the camera. During the movement, the camera was covered and not switched off, as light paintings are shot in one exposure and are not processed afterwards by Photoshop

The portrait of Nicole was taken during a trip to Görlitz. Nicole is deaf, so working in the dark was a little more complicated than usual where you can give verbal instructions. We communicated by light signals. The photo shows "I love you" in signlanguage and was a gift to her boyfriend.
In this photo I illuminated the room with coloured spotlights and used a tube with spotlight foil to create the "scarf". I illuminated Nicole with a torch. This is one of my first lightpaintings.
For portrait photography I mostly use the Nikon D 750 with the following lenses: Meyer Optik Görlitz 35/2 or Nikkor 17-35/ 2.8

WHAT IS LIGHT PAINTING?

Light painting is a unique form of art. The artist illuminates the scene with diverse light sources and paints light traces into the picture with various light tools. In addition, we use various other techniques, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during the exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. All our pictures were taken during one single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cutting and possibly adjusting the white balance, our pictures are not processed on the computer.
