Walking through the center of Caracas. Some of its historical buildings.

A few days ago I had to go downtown to run some personal errands. Going to the center is a great opportunity to photograph places of interest, historical places and people who go by on the street. I'm going to show you my tour.

The temple of "Santa Teresa"

The temple of "Santa Teresa" is one of the most important in the city. It is the center of congregations of the Catholic community of Caracas, during the commemorations of said religion. It is very crowded at Easter and Christmas time.

It is a building that is close to or more than two hundred years old, one of the oldest in the center of the city.

The parliament building

A little after the temple, you can see the headquarters of the Venezuelan parliament building. The offices of the parliamentarians and some dependencies of it, such as the administrative offices, work in it. It is usually heavily guarded and people who take photos up close are viewed with suspicion.

People enjoying a sunny day in Bolivar Square

The Plaza Bolivar is one of the most emblematic places in the center of Caracas, it indicates precisely the center of what is called the historic center of the city. It is frequented by many people every day, whether they are visitors, tourists or simply people who are passing through to get somewhere in the center.

Sunny day in Bolivar Square.

It has an equestrian statue of the liberator Simon Bolivar in the center, but I forgot to take a picture of it because I was already late for my appointment.

The National Pantheon

After my appointment I was able to go to the northern part of the historic center, I was able to go through the National Pantheon. This was a church restored at the end of the 19th century which serves as a resting place for all the heroes of the war for independence.

The "San Carlos" barracks

The "San Carlos" barracks was an old army fortress, it is about 300 years old and was initially a garrison. Then it became the headquarters of the army school and finally it was used as a military prison. Today it is used as a museum and meeting center. It is right next to the National Pantheon.

The National Library

The National Library is located next to the National Pantheon. It was for many years a concentration center for students of all levels to carry out homework and research. With the massification of the Internet, today it is not as frequented as before, remaining as a site for the protection and investigation of literature and other arts and sciences.

I hope you liked the photos. Later I will visit other places in the city, not just downtown. Until next time!

Smile at life, in the end she will always give you that smile back!
