The fortress, a symbol of Asenovgrad, is located near the city of Plovdiv. It is located in the Rhodope Mountains in an extremely beautiful place!
It was built around the 5th century on a lonely exposed rock. The Thracians assessed suitable inaccessible terrain and began construction.
Asenova Fortress is part of the 100 national tourist sites.

BACHKOV MONASTERY is located near the fortress and is the second largest Bulgarian monastery.
Due to its proximity to the city of Plovdiv and several smaller settlements, the monastery is the most visited in Bulgaria.
The monastery was founded in 1083. You see the amazing nature around it. Scattered small prayer facilities belong to the main monastery building.
The Rhodopes is the most popular Bulgarian mountain.
Many historical buildings have been built on it, and many animal species hide in its dense green forests. Personally, I like Pirin Mountain better, because there is not much vegetation there. I have an intolerance to the color green. I know it's weird, but it doesn't comfort me... :)))
I will show you many more wonderful corners of the Rhodopes and many other Bulgarian mountains.
I'm interested to know if any of you have visited Bulgaria and where exactly?
The Bulgarian economy is in a terrible state because of the stupid politicians, but we have one of the most unique natural resources. As a wise man once said - WHATEVER YOU PLAN HERE WILL BE BORN LARGE AND NUTRITIONAL!

This place is easily accessible, but I was literally standing on one foot on an uneven rock to take some of the pictures.
I shoot mass-visited sights from different angles so that I have different photos from others. I learned it the hard way. When I started taking pictures years ago, I waited 2 hours for a group of tourists to get off a bridge...😀
