One of my favorite locations near my home is this abandoned pier on the Pacific Coast. I can't imagine a better way to spend an evening than watching the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean near Santa Cruz in California.
Built in the 1860s the pier was a platform used for transporting timber north towards San Francisco. Long abandoned since then the wharf eroded and today only the concrete arches that once held the pier have survived the test of time. The place looks especially eerie at night...

Lats shot is just stunning.
How did you shot it? long exposure or ?
Want to learn the technique as well
Thank you! The sky was a 20s second exposure. The land - 5 minutes. You do much longer on land, stars start to trail at more than 15/20s
Thank you very much for that info!
I'll try using longexposure more often, passed a lovely half frozen waterfall today to try out.

Gorgeous images! Truly love the colors in the first image, this post makes me miss the ocean so much!
Thank you! It was one of the more colorful sunsets I've seen
What a banger of a sunrise! The pier looks so small in the first shot, but the swing in the second really changes the size perspective. Have you even had a go on the swing?
Sunset! And yes, I climbed on it once!
Oh yes of course! You're on the other side of the Pacific!
