The island of Cuba has a great biodiversity, and its birds are no exception. Here are some of the species you can find on the island.
Zaramagullón Chico (Least Grebe) Tachybaptus dominicus dominicus
It is a small aquatic bird with dark gray plumage and yellow eyes. Mostly, they can be found in rivers and slow waters, ponds and lagoons. Their compact size and behavior as expert swimmers offer unique opportunities to capture good images.
Tomeguín de la Tierra (Yellow-faced Grassquit) Tiaris olivaceus olivaceus olivaceus
A very small bird, with yellow throat and eyebrows in males. They inhabit grasslands and weedy fields. Its active behavior and beautiful plumage make it very interesting for photography.
Aparecido de San Diego (Red-legged Honeycreaper) Cyanerpes cyaneus
A bird with blue and green plumage in females that inhabits forests and semi-open areas. Very active when feeding on flowers, making the activity a privilege to photograph.
Cartacuba (Cuban Tody) Todus multicolor
Its vibrant green, red and white colors and its calm behavior make it one of the most photographed by nature photography enthusiasts. Its habitat is very varied and ranges from forests to ravines where they nest.
Títere Sabanero (Killdeer) Charadrius vociferus
One of the most charismatic among the birds and can be found practically everywhere, from the fields to the coastal areas. Their behavior offers unique photo opportunities.
