At the begining of Autumn the Spider Lilies bloom in vibrant red for about a week!
In the Autumn, suddenly, up shoot 30cm stalks that bloom in a slender basket looking flower! It is after blooming that the leaves will sprout to store energy in the bulb for next year.
While they bloom fast and furious and soon fade away, when they are present the flowers are a favourite among the butterflies:

The black swallowtail butterfly above was accompanied by a yellow swallowtail too!
