In the old days, it was labor intensive to plant big trees, but not anymore.
Now it only takes two guys to plant a 6-meter-high young tree.
We have a company that specializes in tree sales, and they have many long lines of different trees that they grow to sell. So, contractors will be building new residential complexes, and all of a sudden there would be many big trees planted on site overnight. We have always wondered how they could possibly plant so many trees so quickly with so few guys. In this case, in the post, only two guys were planting big trees, and we saw how easy it was.
So, come and have a look.
A truck with a crane, and a man at the back of the truck fastening the sling ropes to the trunk of the tree.
I was not the only one watching, as I think the Malachite Sunbird was also watching to see if maybe they could build a nest in one of the trees.
In any case, watch the action with the crane simply lifting the tree and then swinging and plunking the tree down in the hole that was dug.
The man checked that he fitted the slings correctly.
And up the tree went.
There's the other guy, operating the crane, and he was busy aligning the tree with the hole in the ground.
Boom! The tree was placed in the hole, ready for the finishing touches.
This was so wow to watch, especially as it takes only two persons to plant trees. No doubt, they also have a machine that digs the holes for the trees, and I think that in this way they can plant hundreds of trees. So, as it was a real laborious task to plant trees in the old days, now it is done almost instantly. So funny how life changes, as long ago we drove around on donkey carts and wagons and now we drive around with airconditioned cars. We used to use a switchboard, and every house had one of those phones that one has to crank to get through to the switchboard for a line, and now we walk around with a phone in our pocket. The first computer was as big as a house, and now people have computers in their watches. I don't think any of the ancients could ever think of launching a rocket, or landing on the moon.
Such is life.
I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

.Ohhh
I didn't know they planted trees like that...
Meaning it's being transplanted like how some crops are first grown in pots before taken somewhere else...
Sounds tedious.
Several tree growing farms here, and it's necessary, to replace the old dead trees. We have a borer beetle bug that damages the trees, and unfortunately new tree plantings will take too many years to grow. There are also many new residential complexes being built and the trees from the farms are also planted in them in order provide shade and greenery in the complexes.
So, nothing tedious about it !LOLZ
