A very long afternoon as there were about 400 people ahead of us in the queue.
This was where we wanted to get to, as it was the entrance to the voters hall.
But it was going to be a long wait for us, as there was a bug in the system early morning, and the voting started only at 9am. Some people arrived at 5am in order to skip the crowds, but they were out of luck and still waiting until 9am. In the meantime, the queue started to grow, and I walked the length of it at a distance after I had parked our car. We saw a graph on the PC that showed that it is better to go and vote in the afternoon, as then the morning rush would be over, and that's why we only arrived at the center at 3pm. Little did we know that we would finally vote at 6:30 pm.
But such is life.
There are normally no cars parked in this road, and now there was no parking space for us when we arrived.
So, I dropped my wife at the back of the queue, and I left to find a parking spot.
I circled around the block to enter from the other side, but still no parking, so I went to park at a sports field next to the center.
Walking back across the field to join my wife at the back, I saw a long line of people, and I just knew that we could prepare for a long wait.
Some birds on the field were watching the strange gathering of people and I heard Sammy, the egret below shouting at Eric the pigeon; Hi Eric, how can you eat when so many people are crowding around to come and catch us? :))
Oh yes, that queue was indeed very long.
A bit of a wind sand whirl made for an intriguing photo, as you can see some of the queue behind it.
It was getting late, and the sun decided to put on a show for us.
By this time, we still had a way to go, and I didn't take any photos when the dark descended.
So, there you have it. We eventually voted and all was well. A surprising thing was that the people in the queue, were all friendly and we could hear a lot of laughs. This is the way to go, when one is faced with inevitable discomfort. The guy ahead of us in the queue even offered his camping chair for me to take a seat on, but I respectfully declined because I am still young:))
Now we are waiting, and the final results of the election will soon be released. We were also impressed with the friendly electoral commission staff, and it was a great relief to drop our voting records into the boxes.
Just another day, as some say.
I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Elections are very important for the overall functioning of a good society. This area of yours is very beautiful. It's a pleasure reading about your experience
I agree with you, but sadly there are always complaints from the losing sides, which make things very unpleasant.

We were very fortunate, went in the afternoon and the queue was very short, apparently a steady stream of voters throughout the day.
MK has the majority in KZN, not surprising after hearing talk from all quarters about the fast growth of their support base!
Western Cape is looking more and more attractive!
Made me chuckle, only you would say that Zac!
Glad that you guys had short queues, and even here at different voting stations the queues were short.
Yep, they say that MK has a record as the highest scores votes ever for a new start up political party. But MK has also kicked up a big fuss, and they want a votes recount.
DA won outright, and we are glad that no need for a coalition attempt.
Haha, just a bit of humor milady !LOL

MK is going to cause so much trouble! Their followers are very naive to think they're going to bring about change, and Mr Zuma still pleads innocence!
Some say that it's a tribal thing, and we can only hope that he stops his inflammatory talk. He even stated that no electoral results will be announced, but he missed the pot on that one, as all of the results were announced at 6pm tonight, and it's being declared as a free and fair election. We were just surprised at the number of spoiled votes, over 200,000.

Hello, happy Sunday! Hey, how unlucky were the people who arrived early, I pity them, but well, I think you had the best idea of all with this rewarding walk and leave it for later, also, what beautiful pictures you have taken of the sky, I was a while admiring them ❤️
As it is said that you can't always get what you want, and yes, we also felt sorry for them, but kudos to them, as they stuck out. South Africans are a very resilient people. We were tipped off that going later would be much better, and I took a slow walk with my camera while my wife stood in the queue.
Just a bit of luck with the sunset, and glad that you liked it :)

.We also just voted. The main thing is that people stand in line and vote. Everyone must perform their basic duty. Voting in a beautiful environment with clouds in the blue sky is wonderful. @papilloncharity
Glad to see and there are many countries that have their elections this year. Sadly not everyone will perform their duty, as we have many over here that refused to vote.
Thank you, and I was glad that the sky showed me the sunset.

Happy election year to the world haha!
I cast my vote a few days ago. Although the heat here is at a record level, I went in the afternoon and my turn came after hardly 3-4 people. So this trick worked well and I saved my time and energy. :) Otherwise one would go crazy standing in such a long line.
Sending Love and Ecency Vote!
Good to know that you voted, and over here we had a cool afternoon, as we are about to head into winter. They were right with the tip to rather go in the afternoon, but in our case, there were some hiccups with the system in the morning, and that slowed the voting queue. Luckily, we didn't go crazy, or maybe it's because we are crazy, as we simply remained in the queue, and so did many others.
!PIZZA and LUV also to you!
It's great that there are many people wanted to exercise their right to vote.😊
Oh yes and if only everyone would vote, but unfortunately that never happens.
!PIZZA
Yeah.. because they have some circumstances too.😊
Bad circumstances, as we have the highest unemployment count in the world.
I thought our country had the highest unemployment. I know your country has great resources to solve the unemployment there.
Nope, resources all depleted here, and the country is struggling.
Sometimes, government is to blame too.😪

What a long day! The line to vote seemed endless, but eventually you made it. It's incredible how even in such stressful situations people manage to keep a good mood and smile. It is nice to see how solidarity and a sense of community arise even in difficult moments.😮
The idea was to wait it out, as anger or moaning has never helped anything, or anyone, so, we just had to endure. Incredible indeed and it had much to do that we all were in the same boat, and what's the use of crying? Better to stand together in solidarity during these times.
