The moon as a background.

Just a pigeon preening on a streetlamp, and some other bird shots.

A relaxing peaceful post to ease some stresses and come to watch some birdlife. I said this before, and will now say it again, we are blessed here with an abundance of birdlife, and many species visit our garden. So the rule is that if I can't get them on camera here, then we will simply drive out to visit one of the many farms in the area. The country has a variety of different farms down here, such as citrus, grapes and apples, then in other areas there are fynbos, canola, hay, and all sorts of other crops. Enough to draw birds and animals of all kinds. Some areas also have very big nature reserves where everything is protected, as there are also plant species that can be found nowhere else in the world.

The moon was fading fast, but thankfully I managed to still get it in the background.

And finally the pigeon stopped to have a look at me.

This Malachite sunbird was in a singing mood.

Telling the world that their baby will soon be born.

We used to think that it was the wind that messed the leaves all over the garden.

But not, as it was Robbie, a Cape Robin-chat that I caught in the act, as he rips the leaves out to see if it harbored any insects.

He came a bit closer to inspect a possible meal behind this rock.

After all of the singing, the Malachite popped down onto a pincushion bush.

He didn't drink any nectar, as he rather sat looking around.

So, I hope that you read the post, as one of my main reasons for sharing my posts is that I want to promote the beauty of our country. Another reason is that I continue to build my account on behalf of our non-profit, The Papillon Foundation, so that we can get more work done in the poor communities. Papillon will scrape through this year, but the good news is that we simply keep on going. Another windfall is that we received a letter from the government stating that they accept our annual report and financials, and we comply with all their requirements. This has been accepted for the past 22 years, and the same will take place in the year of 2024 (our 23rd year).
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
