...and the birds were scurrying around to get some extra food.
The ring around the sun is called a halo, and it's a beautiful sign to warn that rain is on its way.
My wife had a dentist appointment, and we had to wait here at home until the time to leave for her appointment in town. As usual, I waited outside in the front garden and a little female sunbird decided to put on a show for me that I will show you below.
It is a female Southern Double-collared sunbird (Cinnyris chalybeus), and it might even be the one that was born right here in the bush that she was sitting on. A cute little lady, and it seems that she hasn't found a husband yet, as the husbands normally appear close to their wives.
So, my day started very well.
Now just have a look at this little cute lady, as she scurried around searching for insects.
Then it was nature's turn later.
Upon our return from the dentist, we popped in to have a coffee at one of our favorite coffee shops in nature.
Guess what? I saw another female sunbird sitting on the lower branches of a tree.
This little guy below is called a Cape Canary (Serinus canicollis).
I only got this one shot of a Fork-tailed Drongo (Dicrurus ludwigii), before it flew away.
Finally, a Southern Fiscal (Lanius collaris), sat at the top of a tree.
Whenever we go out to a coffee shop in nature, I always take a stroll with my camera, and most times I will find something interesting. Yesterday for instance, I saw a goose walking around in a grass field and as he walked, he must have disturbed the bugs, as some swallows dived down at high speed around the goose to catch the bugs.
It is amazing to see how one bird's actions can benefit other birds. Nature is showing me all of these little occasions, like the goose and the swallows, as a lesson for us to see that whatever we do we must make sure that it is of benefit for others. At Papillon we are working on a big new project that will benefit the little children that are dying from malnutrition. I will tell you more about it in another post sometime.
Such is life.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

I gained new knowledge today. I often see that sign near the sun but don't realize that it's a sign that rain will come soon. The birds you captured are very beautiful.
I am sure that you can check it out the next time when you see a Halo sign.
Glad that you liked the birds. !LOL
