I will show you a mix of photos that I got prior to a meeting this morning.
First up above was a friendly dragonfly. Check that smile!
We met with a lovely couple that are also on hive, and we arrived early before the appointed time, as I wanted to get a few photos at the water feature at the place. It felt like a proper summer's day, as it started getting hot from early morning. Thankfully a cool soft wind was blowing to make things bearable.
Ample shade was also available, as there are thankfully many trees around the water feature, and it's a pleasure to stand, or sit in order to get some shots with my camera.
It looked like this lady below, was praying for some shade.
A squirrel appeared to slake its thirst. Now when they drink, then one can know that it's hot. I tried to get its face reflection in the water, but the light was too sharp.
And then the squirrel ran up a tree in the shade.
This was a better reflection, as the sunlight donated an extra set of wings to the dragonfly. :)
Mrs. Cape Sugar bird tried to eat in some shade, but the heat started to affect her attempts.
So, screaming she took off, and you will see where she landed.
Here! She sat breathing the cool breeze in at the top of a high tree.
It looked like only the fish in the water were happy about the conditions.
It is that when the fish has babies, then the fun begins, as there are two kingfisher bird species that hunt the babies in the water. I was lucky a few years ago to get a giant kingfisher bird catching some of the babies, but one has to be here very early in the morning. It is a spectacular sight to see a kingfisher dive from a high tree branch to spike a fish in the water.
We also visited a gin distillery on the premises, but I didn't take any photos this time, as I have already done a post on it before. An interesting plan there was that they have installed 16 small brass distillers on top of two 8 seater counters, and the plan is to offer distilling courses to the public. We will go back there to get photos of a class in action.
Such is life.
I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.
