We will only have two semi dry days this week, but I am the kind of guy that simply cannot stay cloistered inside.
So, we got into the car and decided to go and have a look at the mountain river.
The rain sounded like a million drums on the roof of our house for the whole night and I woke up tired, as I must have danced to the drumbeats in my dreams :)
The river flooded some low bridges along the way, but thankfully the water was ankle deep and I could cross over at a very low speed. Many make the mistake of trying to speed over and that results in the car planing on the water and skidding off the bridge.
But let me show you the surprise.
I stood on the left-hand side of a bridge to show you the river coming down.
Then I crossed over to the other side and look at this below. Can you see the surprise?
Yes, it was a couple of Egyptian geese with their small family.
The dad was keeping an eye on me, but my worry grew for the safety of the babies.
But why should I worry? Surely the parents were aware of the dangers?
An accident can happen in the blink of an eye and the babies would not survive if they landed up in the power of this boiling stream.
I clanged with my keys on the metal railing of the bridge and the parents decided to lead the babies away from the river.
The babies strung along in a line with dad at the front and mom at the rear.
As you can see here, the river flooded wide during the night.
Then I crossed back over the bridge and there was a pair of Blue-billed ducks swimming upriver.
But all good things come to an end, as the rain came down and this was our view from the windscreen of our car on our way home.
Much water, cold temperatures and power cuts do not make a pleasant mix. You can only imagine what the street people with no home have to endure, especially overnight. Some use flattened cardboard boxes as a mattress and cower fully dressed under a blanket from the cold. Never an easy life.
Papillon runs a project called Mercy Flight, as a part of our distribution program and we are in the process of packing food parcels for the street people in our area. With a full stomach one can fight better against the odds. My only wish is that we can do so much more for them.
But who knows? As we are putting some enquiries out for assistance from the major food suppliers. So there is always hope.

All these places looks so beautiful and amazing. Even in these pictures we can see that mom are taking care of their children very much and it is the same in real life. Here in Pakistan too it has rained like this after many days and the weather has become very pleasant.
Ducks are happy with this wet event :)
