Where there's smoke there is a fire.

Some random shots in the countryside to share with you.

First, I will show you some controlled burns.

Like all farmers in the rural areas, we are also very aware when we spot smoke, and it is not very advisable to burn anything when the strong winds are up. It is well known that the wind can whip sparks from a fire for miles around to start other fires, that can cause severe damages to farm crops and animals. We have had a severe wildfire here some years ago, and the thousands of acres of scorched lands have still not fully recovered. But thankfully it seemed that the burns today were well controlled.
Okay, I digress, as I also have some other views to share with you in here.

This Kite below cruised around high up above the smoke to watch for fleeing prey.

Now for something different.

In the distance, I saw what looked like a Buzzard landing on the branches of a dry tree.

The first time I see a Hadeda Ibis land and sit in the same tree as a Buzzard.

And this horse was eating some fruit from the trees. There were starling birds sitting on the ground below waiting to eat the leftovers.

By the time the horse is done, there will be no fruit to harvest:))

Are you okay sweetie? You were so brave to sit so close to that scary bird. Said the Hadeda's wife, when she joined him once the Buzzard had flown.

I think the only reason for the Hadeda's sitting in the tree near the Buzzard, was that they must have a nest there somewhere. Now I have never seen a fight between a Hadeda and a Buzzard, but I bet that it would be quite a show. And so, it was best for the Buzzard to clear off, as I don't think that he was up for a fight either. Nature is a great stress reliever, and we go out into the countryside at every opportunity as there is so much to see. It takes one's mind off the struggles in the world and peace rests in the soul and the heart.
Such is life!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
