Hi everyone!

This summer vacation I went to Florianópolis again, a Brazilian island known as the “island of magic”. But instead of staying in the northern part of the island where I stayed the other times I was there, I decided to stay at the other end of the island.

In the south of Florianópolis you will find several beaches, both for surfing, paddling, swimming, etc. Pântano do Sul is one of the neighborhoods in this region of the Magic Island and is quite quiet compared to the more popular spots in Florianópolis.

Pântano do Sul beach is home to a community of fishermen who make fishing their professional activity. It is also common for fishermen to carry out certain tourist activities such as boat trips, in addition to renting Stand Up Paddle boards and kayaks.

On the sandy beach you will find several restaurants that focus on seafood. One of them is Arante, a traditional restaurant that became famous for having tickets as decoration. In addition to the food being wonderful, with an incredible view of the beach, you receive a piece of paper to write a note on and it stays there. You can write sentences, poems, draw pictures and even leave messages for someone. By the way, decades ago when the restaurant started, that was the idea behind the tickets. Students who camped on Pântano do Sul beach left messages for other students in the restaurant. The objective was to let people know where they were going and thus maintain communication.

Finally, this beach is very preserved and very peaceful for swimming, taking a simple swim in the sea and enjoying the landscape.

Aloha, galera!

Nessas férias de verão fui para Florianópolis novamente, uma ilha brasileira conhecida como “ilha da magia”. Mas ao invés de ficar na região Norte da ilha onde fiquei nas outras vezes em que estive lá, decidi ficar no outro extremo da ilha.

No Sul de Florianópolis você encontra diversas praias, tanto para surfar como remar, nadar e etc. O Pântano do Sul é um dos bairros dessa região da ilha da magia e é bastante tranquilo comparado aos picos mais badalados de Florianópolis.

A praia Pântano do Sul abrange uma comunidade de pescadores que fazem da pesca a sua atividade profissional. É comum também que pescadores realizem determinadas atividades turísticas como passeios de barcos, além do aluguel de pranchas de Stand Up Paddle e caiaques.

Na areia da praia você encontra diversos restaurantes que têm como ponto forte frutos do mar. Um deles é o Arante, um tradicional restaurante que ficou famoso por ter bilhetes como decoração do espaço. Além da comida ser maravilhosa, com uma vista incrível para a praia, você recebe um papel para escrever um bilhete e este permanecer ali. Você pode escrever frases, poemas, fazer desenhos e até mesmo deixar recados para alguém. A propósito, há décadas no início do restaurante, a ideia dos bilhetes era essa. Estudantes que acampavam na praia do Pântano do Sul deixavam recados para outros estudantes ali no restaurante. O objetivo era avisar para onde iam e assim manter a comunicação.

Por fim, essa praia é bastante preservada é muito tranquila para nadar, tomar um simples banho de mar e curtir a paisagem.
