Żyje w Gdańsku już blisko 10 lat. Nie mniej nadal zachwyca swoim zróżnicowaniem. W mieście tym z łatwością przeskoczymy z ery średniowiecznych zamków do czasów industrialnych. Wystarczy zrobić krótki spacer, lub jak w moim przypadku skorzystać z traktu wodnego.

I have lived in Gdansk for almost 10 years. The city continues to amaze me with its charm. In this town, you can easily jump from the era of medieval castles to industrial factories. To achieve this you need to take a short walk, or as in my case use a boat.

Prócz klasycznych zabytków architektownicznych jak Brama Żuraw w Gdańsku mamy okazje zobaczyć nieco nowsze wersje tego urządzenia. Oba te cuda inżynierii swoich czasów, służyły mniej więcej do tego samego - podnoszenia ciężkich rzeczy. To co się zmieniło to sposób pozyskiwania siły do wykonywania pracy. W pierwszym przypadku służyła do tego praca ludzkich nóg poruszających się w wielkim bębnie. W drugim przypadku to już kwestia prądu.

In Gdańsk we can see classic architectural monuments such as the Brama Żuraw we have the opportunity to see slightly newer versions of this device. Both these engineering marvels of their time served more or less the same purpose - lifting heavy things. What has changed is the way of gaining power to perform the work. In the first case it was the work of human legs moving in a huge cylinder. In the second case, it was a matter of electricity.

Pomiędzy industralnymi reliktami również można spotakać coś nieco bardziej nowoczesnego. Jednym z nich jest zwodzona kłatka, która umożliwa przejście suchą stopą pomiędzy brzegami Motławy. Kładka jest ona podnoszona, gdy duża jednostka morska chce wyjść w morze.

Between industrial relics you can also find something a bit more modern. One of them is a drawbridge, which allows you to pass between the banks of the Motlawa River. The footbridge is raised when a large marine vessel wants to go into the deep sea.
