Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!
I hope you are ready for some epic time traveling because my today post will take you back to the mysterious medieval times. A couple of months ago, I visited this amazing permanent exhibition called "The Lost Wawel" here in Krakow, Poland and even though I am not really a big fan of historic museums in general, I must admit that I really enjoyed the tour.
The tour is partially set in the actual underground remains of the Wawel Castle that was built many centuries ago back in the early medieval era. The tour leads through the actual archaeological sites of the castle but it´s nicely combined with modern technologies so that you can really soak up the very special atmosphere of the place, admire the remarkably preserved artifacts, statues, pieces of architecture etc. and also educate yourself about the unusually rich and interesting history of the castle and the medieval way of life of those who used to live there.
Although the tour itself is not so long, I actually took dozens of photos down there in the Wawel underground but I don´t want to overwhelm you so I decided to split this post into two parts. Without further ado, here comes the first one :) The photos are not ordered in any particular order but some of them come up with the original captions so you should be able to find out what they are...
I hope you enjoyed the first part of this little photo series dedicated to the interesting permanent exhibition held at the royal Wawel Castle in Krakow and titled "The Lost Wawel". I will post the second part of the series next week, probably on Tuesday again, so stay tuned ;) If you want to know more about the exhibition, feel free to visit the official website.
They definitely did a good job of putting the perfect ambience by setting some cool lighting and you did capture them very well.
Thank you. Taking photos in museums is always challenging, especially for old phones like I have, mostly because of the unusual lighting and the strong contrasts but I tried... Glad to know you have enjoyed the result :) Thanks for your feedback.
Thanks for taking us along on this time travel @phortun
They have a remarkable collection. You can see a lot in a little tour.
Right :) A lot of cool stuff to see in less than an hour... And this is just a half of it, the second part is coming next week ;) Thanks for stopping by!
Looking forward to reading the next part 😉
This was done nicely and you really worked well with the light. You kept the pictures to a great length and I like the selection.
I found it interesting and I love Wawel Castle. Thank you!
Thank you very much for your lovely feedback Denise! I am sure you know the castle from the outside but maybe you haven´t been inside or "underneath" so I am glad I could take you on this underground tour with me :) Well, it´s hard to take decent pictures in such extreme light conditions but I tried...
Lovely captures as always
Thanks for checking them out!
Rád jsem se podíval. Hlavně ta kachlová kamna, to je krása.
Díky :) Milovníci historie si v Krakowě opravdu přijdou na své. Z Plzně to máš tedy trošku z ruky, ale pořád se to dá, třeba na víkend ;)
Až @terezka1 povyroste, tak se tam určitě podíváme :)
Wow, impressive, I'm sure it was educational. The past is not perfect, but it's pointless to blame him, but it's useful to study.
Very educational indeed. The Middle Ages were rough but interesting times. Thanks for stopping by.
I like such historical stuffs and museums. Seems it dates back to a long ago. Why is there an underground? To defend against enemy?
I think it would be better if you shared this post on Haveyoubeenhere Community, mate.
Yeah, some of the artifacts are 1,000 years old. Well, I think most medieval castles had undergrounds, catacombs, dungeons etc.
I pinned the post to the map ;)
A true historical treasure of inestimable value. Thanks for your post, @phortun.
Sounds right :) Thanks for your visit man!
