So many images from my shoot at Tankspace in November, I've only just finished editing them!! Which is great, but we're back there this weekend for another 8 hours of shooting...
This was my third trip to tankspace and on each of the other shoots, the models were all female.. Now there's nothing wrong with that, but I like to mix it up a bit... I see no point in shooting more or less the same stuff all the time and especially the same as other people.. So when I organised my own day there, I wanted something different..
Male models are scarce, and most seem to go down the fitness or tattooed route.. There's not many than look like Michael!!! A bigger man, the beard, the long hair.. He will not mind me saying, he is not your average model!! Which is EXACTLY what I wanted !!
We had 2 styles in mind, first was the sailor look, the whole look just suited the tank for obvious reasons, the clothing, the beard and I forget where the rope came from, but that just added more.
The second look was one of a vintage bare knuckle fighter... again something very different and I'm not sure it went with the tank, but we ran with it regardless and to be honest.. I just like it
Again Michael looks the part, and I really really like the above shot with the sinking feeling.. Some photoshop was used on this to fill the image with water as the tank itself isn't that deep...
Last shot for this post, a feel of being knocked out.
As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts.. Good or bad, I'm big and ugly enough to hear them without getting upset lol.
These are so awesome. This would be such a fun photoshoot.
thank you... its pretty special, although hard work for all involved...
my saying of 'if you dont go home tired - youve not done it right' always comes into play when shooting here
I find interesting the themes you use for the photos, I really like the one in which he is meditating, it looks like a movie poster 👈🏻😎👈🏻
thank you... we try and do something a little bit different to the norm here... its a very popular studio and a lot of people are using it... I want my images to look a bit different to the others.
I understand, as a viewer I think you are going well, keep it up!
thank you!!!!
Technically speaking the pictures are perfect but the choice of model...
...is just brilliant :)
thank you.... always good to shoot something / somebody different
cheers

This is pretty intriguing... I'll admit, it's a bit of a shock to the senses to see this model in this environment. What I found most out of sorts was the wavy, flowing parachute material floating around him. This felt really incongruous and difficult to process. And exactly why it's so interesting!
I can't say if I liked it, or not. It's not so much about enjoying these photos as it is the mental activity it causes. And this is reason to pay attention to it! These photos are not a formula; they don't ascribe to the norm.
I'd keep experimenting this way. It's a pretty sharp departure from what one normally expects to see. And that, in many respects, is Art stretching the limits of imagination.
Cheers!
