You reminded me of a huge old cactus in the garden of my childhood home. Blooms only at night once a year. Those flowering days were like a party. On Facebook I found this photo, this is what it looked like on those glorious scented nights 👇

I'm not much into cacti, however when thy bloom they're usually quite spectacular, as your image shows; one just needs to put up with a pretty uninteresting plant for most of the time and celebrate the blooms when they happen!

It would be something like having a hard job and waiting a year for a splendid vacation. I don't really like cacti either, if I'm honest. But the truth is that those blooms were so spectacular that it was worth preserving that mass full of thorns.

When one finds a beautiful flower amongst thorns one must celebrate it, love it...much like when one finds a beautiful human amongst the trash humanity generally is.
