Roman history in my place

In a field just two kilometers from my house, there is an old historical Roman site.
Among other things, they found ancient tombs, roads, and building remains, and here they also discovered the most famous Roman cistern.
Around it, various items such as vases, coins, and similar objects were found.

Experts determined that women used the cistern to wash clothes, people watered their animals there, and it always provided drinking water for the nearby residents.
The water is always cold, drinkable, and clear, and the space around it stays pleasantly cool even during the hottest days because everything is made of stone.
The cold water keeps the area as cool as if there were an air conditioner, making it a perfect spot to rest on these hot summer days.

We came for a walk and took the opportunity to sit down, cool off, and drink some fresh water that never runs dry because it springs from the ground and is naturally filtered through the stones.
That's why everyone in the town loves it; some even come with cans to fill and take home. We just took two 1-liter bottles to refresh ourselves and make it back to the car in this heat.

It would be a shame to visit Vodice without seeing this site, as well as the Roman settlement not far from here on a hill called Velika Mrdakovica.
I hope you cooled off reading this article 😊
