This quote is very close to how i fel abotu photography. Though i am not even an ametuer ( I just love taking ooictures) and then i becoe super lazy to process them.
But it was last year our group got together to have fun and we stayed in an Travel hostel and then shot with fireworks and himan subjects.
Though i am a andscape photogrpaher. but the result actually came so good. The Camera was Nikon D750 with 16 mm prime lens. Images were processed in light room.
There was no light soruce except light from fireworls. It actually became single narrow source of light. Keeping the skin tine was a challenge in the pictures. But some how me and my friends were able to do it.
The Exposure copensation was set to -1/3.
