My hands are in pain, my RA is flaring up although I was hoping that by now the medication would hit. I am trying to get off the steroids and I am only taking 25% of what I took 2 weeks ago. And I must say I can feel it. Additionally the weather turned cold and that does not help with the stiffness in the hands and my right elbow.
Nevertheless I am happy that I am still able to work and to hold my camera. I might change back to a shorter lens though, as the 100-300 is just too heavy.
I will add the occasional shot from my Iphone here too so I can walk you through the happenings of the past two days.
Many, many shoes. I am in the 11th district at Lambert Hofer Theatre Costumes and I am helping to assemble a wardrobe for a movie. Odd job and it was really nice. This is a 5 story building we are now in the mens floor and these are just a few of the shoes they have. All sorted by size and also by epoch. You will find anything from medieval to futuristic if you are willing to put in the search work. There is a few people that can help but if you take their stock in bulk you will be assembling on your own and they will scan and chip everything before you take it out of the building.
I could not take many pictures since I was there to work. But I hope you can get a feel for this amazing place.
Here again many shoes in its out of camera state. I used the 35mm lens for this shot. At least that is what I remember. I can't really talk about what movie we where assembling for, all I ca say that it is historical. I had to climb ladders to get huge capes that all men and women where wearing above their everyday clothing.
I also climbed an even higher ladder to get to the clerics and monks costumes. Clothing can be pretty heavy especially if it is hung high up and you only can use one hand. This was not the best for my RA hands and I can feel that today.
One of 3 corridors full of costumes, the dimensions of this place are huge. Some costumes have been used for pretty amazing movies and have a real history. Of course it is not the main characters who get dressed with these costumes but all extras of Band of Brothers for all episodes shot in Austria and Bavaria came from here.
Also Oscar winning movies like Mephisto partially rented their costumes from Lambert Hofer.
The side corridors are narrow and if you have to get the stuff from above you gotta climb up.
A lot of the clothing has been severely damaged by moths which I can imagine like a place like this a lot.
You can find any era from medieval king to 90 ies rock star to an astronaut in 2378 on planet Alpha-b455.
Sorry for the bad quality my iphone is not used to take pictures anymore and completely blurred thisone...
Whenever you hit a wall at the end of a corridor you will see boxes over boxes filled with hats shoes gloves buttons leather holsters for soldiers of all eras and so on. It is endless and continues like this on the other floors with evening gowns and tuxedo rental for the ball season. A womens historic costumes floor and a huge storage and packaging center so you can ship full wardrobe for hundreds of extras.
I was here a few times before and attended fittings and makeup tests in preparation for a movie but I never was inside the actual costume storage before. It was certainly a cool experience.
Which leads us to today which started with an awesome morning sunrise sky.
Continued with a few shots after travelling with the U-bahn and the S-Bahn to Floridsdorf to work another odd job. I helped the IT department of a small consulting firm to set up new desks and workstations for their employees.
Most of the shots where made on the 100-300mm Tokina monster that I always seem to have on my camera.
Before I got to the U-Bahn station still in the eleventh. The Cyclists face is completely blurred but I swear I did not do that in post this is straight out of cam.
Arrived in the 21st and saw this light reflection in the windows of the building and I fell in love.
A little hidden advertisement for a few fast food chains and a dancing school included.
This was while I was waiting on the S-Bahn to take me to the 21st district. So actually before the previous image. Everything gets mixxed up when I try to do a chronological post...
A good spot for trainspotting? maybe if you use a different lens.
So today I unpacked a bunch of displays and docking stations and reinstalled and recabled a bunch of older workstations, too. It was a short day and I was finished after 6 hours. I wish I could have stayed longer because it paid quite well.
Tomorrow I will be my wifes unpaid workforce and I will set up her stand at the Vienna Comicon. Her last market went quite well and I really wish that we sell out of all her stock. That would be just awesome so wish her luck!
As always thank you so much for your support and all your comments! Feel free to ask anything about my work or photography, or anything else. Let's make this engaging place.
Cheers
Solymi

The pictures are so cool
You mentioned that your iPhone isn’t used to taking pictures anymore
Does a phone camera get blurry if it hasn’t been used for a long time?
Interesting detail.
I would not have thought that they rent their costumes for movies, but rather own it.
