Captivated by the charm of "kans grass". [Tiny blades of joy]

This time of the year gives a pleasant view to our farming fields. Not only because of the Green paddy swaying to their full potential at every corner, but adding beauty to the view were the White shades of Kans grass that grows naturally at many places. These are wild grasses that comes up at some specific parts of the fields.

They are featherly soft grasses. This time, I Have a little patch of these alongside my farming fields. And honestly it looks a wonderful set up with the Green background. When I visited the fields they were swaying due to strong winds. Unable to recall any name to it, I took help of Google lens only to find these wikipedia details.

Saccharum spontaneum (wild sugarcane, kans grass) is a grass native throughout much of tropical and subtropical Asia, northern Australia, and eastern and northern Africa. It is a perennial grass, growing up to three meters in height, with spreading rhizomatous roots.

Kans grass is known as"Kashphool" at many Indian states. These inflorescence in Autumn bring the messages of the greatest festival of Durga Puja. A large patch of this flower looks extraordinarily beautiful, looking like a white silk carpet if viewed from a distance. While traveling to my village, I noticed many such patches alingbthe rivers and open fields. They were abundant grown at many places adding the touch beauty. But when I found them on my fields, I could not resist to take pictures. With an green open fields on the background, the set up was nice for a lovely shots.

Kids alwsys like to play with the soft flowers that these grasses have. Kans grass leaves can be used to make thatch and brooms. I have seen few tribal ladies collecting them for this purpose. Anyhow it remain a weed for others. It only posses some beauty and nothing else.

Peace!!
