For farmers, the harvesting season is a crucial period where they reap the fruits of their labor by gathering mature crops from their fields. This period is typically marked by a busy and intense time of work as they need to harvest crops within a specific window before they overripe or spoil. This makes it important to keep a check upon the crops. So I went out for a routine check up on my fields for the last time, before I head back to city.
We have a bumper farming after a gap of 2 years. The entire villagers were happy finding the crop in good condition. They are no happy for the crops but also the straws were abundant for their cattle. They don't need to buy from outside. The harvest time often involving long hours operating machinery and managing the logistics of storing the harvested produce. It is considered a critical time for their income and overall farming success.
Before harvesting, farmers typically check for crop maturity by observing visual cues like color changes, seed size, and moisture content, ensuring the optimal harvest time for the specific crop variety. Even though, I am not that master in inspecting, still I can see, it is still too early to harvest them. There are few raw grains still hanging around.
Inspecting the crop for signs of pests or diseases to prevent further damage and potential quality issues. This is alwsys been very important to prevent mass damages. Thankfully, we do not have much issues with the crops. They were looking as better than before. Thanks to the rain God for all the timely rainfall.
To decide the best harvesting time, we should observe visual cues like color change, texture, and size of the crop. In my case, the paddy still half ready to harvest. There are still raw paddy in patches all through the fields. It will be too early to harvest them.
Harvesting crops before they are fully mature, or "before time," leads to a significant loss in yield and quality, as the produce will be smaller, less developed, have lower nutritional value, and may not store well due to lack of proper ripening, potentially impacting market value and causing economic losses for farmers.
For those who consider farming an easy job, I just like to highlight that, ever since I get into this field I realize, how much efforts it requires to produce paddy. We have seen farmers on the fields, for various reason. Either looking for the crops or removing weeds or checking the crops. The more time you give the better it is to get a high quality yield. I still have few days left for harvesting, but so far looking at the field it gives immense satisfaction.
Peace!!

What beautiful pictures and the last one is a beautiful postcard! Thank you!😃
We have a lot of corn around where I live, so it is hard to see if the deer are running across the field until they are right on top of you. I am usually pretty happy when they cut down the fields in the fall! It's much safer!
