Art without and Art within

Buffalo

The lovely Rockwell Museum in Corning, New York. The museum is housed in the historic 1893 Corning, New York old City Hall. Described by wikipedia as "Richardsonian Romanesque, a distinctly American style"

Back from a trip across the US. Well part way, from Vermont to Kansas. 1500 miles one way. Its a big beautiful country.

Rockwell

Since I don't work anymore, I've decided to slow down a little on these trips. We stopped in Corning, New York on the way out.

Blue skies

One of the things that most cities in the US have is art museums. This is the Rockwell Museum. Nice buffalo head bursting out of the facade lol. Its a museum of American Art and has a small collection of Remington and Russell paintings. Two iconic western American painters.

Side street

Also some nice native American art. I enjoy art museums but over the years I have travelled most of the US and not stopped for many. The Rockwell is a Smithsonian Affiliate which is a program by the Smithsonian Art Institute to loan out some of its art to smaller museums around the country. The intent is to make its collection more accessible by getting it out of the back storage rooms since they can only display so much in their museums. And getting it out of DC and into some of the smaller towns in America for those that can't visit DC.

Clock tower

This is an unrelated clock tower near downtown.

Corning

Here's some civic pride on a random building... A utility structure of some type I believe 🤔
