Lobster shack on Badger Island. Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Lobstering boats lined up. The shack is decorated with lobster buoys. Buoys are used to mark where lobster traps are located on the sea floor. They are brightly marked with colorful patterns to be easy to find. The patterns are also unique and identify the fisherman that owns the trap.
This pier is in the Piscataqua River on the Maine side of the river.
Morrison's Lobsters is a nearby market that also sells clams and oysters.
The seafood on the New England coast is wonderful in the summer. Gotta have a lobster roll. I prefer hot buttered lobster rolls but the cold creamy lobster rolls are more traditional. Here's an article on Hot vs Cold lobster rolls Hot vs Cold Cold lobster rolls are the Maine variety. Hot with butter is the Connecticut version. I first tried a hot buttered lobster roll in California lol Have you had a lobster roll? Both types? Which do you prefer?
Great photos. I've only had a lobster roll one time and it was in Maine. I wasn't a huge fan, maybe because my expectations were high. But I think I would like hot and buttered better.
Hot and buttered is basically like eating a steamed lobster with drawn butter. Can't go wrong with that 🙂 Sams Chowder House turned me on to hot lobster rolls. We went a few times a year when we lived in California. During the pandemic, they set up their food truck in the restuarant parking lot. You could get a lobster roll and stand on the bluffs over the ocean enjoying a nice meal and sunset even during Covid.
Lobster and butter is my favorite seafood! I would have been in heaven, especially during Covid while going through restaurant withdrawals!
Superb photos, especially the first one with the building and its reflection... It's true that on the East Coast, we can eat very good lobsters... I prefer a whole lobster, a delight with melted butter.
Have a great day

Thanks. I like the first photo the best but it didn't make a good thumbnail. I always forget to take something for thumbnail. We got our fix of seafood. We stopped in Portland, Maine before continuing down to Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
I really like Portland in Maine, great downtown with many good restaurants.
