I was a little iffy on the ID and I didn't end up returning to harvest it 🙁 Good thing I didn't take my foraging friend on the long hike back only to be told "thats not Hen of the Woods" lol

I sort of like the taste of blackening polypore more than hen of the woods. Has more of a savory flavor but only subtly. The last hen I found was in Missouri and the last blackening polypore was in Wisconsin. Maybe things just taste better in Wisconsin.
