Wild Life Birds in The Subcontinent Lower Himalayas (Shivalik Hills)

Wild Life birds in the region of Shivalik Hills is beautiful and has some of the most beautiful birds commonly scene in and around the forest and around the town's of Shivalik Hills (Lower Himalayas).

  • Jungle Babbler

A beautiful bird so common in the forest is the jungle babbler. These birds stay in small groups of seven or ten. Due to this habit they got there famous name of 'Seven Sisters'.

  • Spotted Dove

This bird in the frame is the Spotted Dove and as well as somewhat long tailed Pigeon it is a common resident of the subcontinent. This shot i took from my balcony as it spread the wings and flew pass to the trees. The picture beautifully show the wings and the beauty of the bird.

  • Golden Backed Woodpecker

It is also known as the lesser Golden Backed Woodpecker or Black-Rumped Flameback. It is widely distributed in the subcontinent and is one of few Golden Backed Woodpecker that is seen in the urban areas of the subcontinent.

The pictures are taken during our hiking in the forest near the town. And we got lucky enough to see the bird and had some great shots.

  • Red-Wattled Lapwing

It is also known as large Plover like other Lapwings they are ground birds and can be seen around water. They are usually seen in groups and lay their eggs in camouflage. These pictures are taken from our day time visit to near a river in the Solan district. While walking i saw the bird hunting and took some shots.
