500 words by 6

This post is going to be a bit of a photo dump with fewer words (probably) than normal...

Because my wife is glaring at me for taking too long.

I had to edit them a bit first on the phone, and that takes some time, so now I am behind schedule and I am being reminded of it just about every thirty seconds. It is like a kid in the car of a long trip...

Are we there yet?

Speaking of kids, Smallsteps is at her grandparent's place for the next two nights for the first time ever. She has stayed there before very occasionally, but this will be the first time we have been more than a night away from her in six years. She is thrilled and we had the chance to get out of the house for a while, just the two of us.

We didn't go far, but we decided to grab a room from a hotel in another city, which has a nice little old town attached to it. Neither of us have been here before and we went for a walk around for a couple hours before check-in. It is pretty and it feels like being somewhere other than Finland in some way, although if this was in Sweden, it would be better maintained. However, there is a certain charm to it with it a little "rundown" and rustic, with wildflowers growing all over the place.

It is a little bit rainy and tomorrow will be even more so, but since this Olympus EM-1 with a pro 12-40 lens doesn't mind getting wet, I will brave the elements tomorrow too. Let's see if that will amount to an image dump with next to no words also.

This is 300 words now... longer than many posts on Hive! :D

A lit of the buildings are crooked, either from when they were made to fit into some space or, from age where they are falling over a bit. But again, quite pretty!

P7110230.jpg

And of course, we had to taste a little cake and ruin my diet...

P7110260.jpg

Look at that fancy umbrella my wife has. A lot of "fancy" people seem to come to this town to get away.

We don't fit in at all.

I don't know why I like this next shot so much, but I took it and you will likely see it again as a cover in a future post.

P7110265.jpg

P7110263.jpg

P7110201.jpg

And this next one too. It is pretty and the colors work really well together.

P7110257.jpg

P7110240.jpg

P7110205.jpg

Oh, and there are all of these different kinds of old doors on the buildings, so hopefully tomorrow I can take a lot of photos of these as the textures are fantastic :)

Right, I don't think I can take much more of the human clock nagging me to get ready for dinner, so I will sign-off here and let the images do most of the work - although, look at that, it is like an article in the news that no one reads...

Give me 500 words by 6!

Looks like a lovely and quaint little town :)

though it would probably do my head in with how packed together everything is aaaaahhhhhhh

Posting going to be an after dinner/chilling in the evening affair now? XD

The tight streets are a little hard to get used to, but there is still a feel of "cars shouldn't be here" and they are a rare sight.

Posting going to be an after dinner/chilling in the evening affair now?

Wherever I can find some space!

I have been thinking about this kind of travel too whereby I'll just explore the towns around me due to my inability to detach myself from my grown kids... Sighs.

The first shot reminds me of the coast and my love for revisiting history through old towns. What a saying heritage in all its worn glory. If it is any consolation, we are yet to attain Finland's way of preserving her old towns.

It doesn't take much to "get away from reality" a bit - just sit somewhere different for a few hours and the world perspective changes :)

Hope you are well Tez!

Yes, it doesn't and I desperately need to.

Hanging in there somewhere. Thanks for asking 🔆

Heckuva dump. That texture one looks like a Taraz cover for sure.

It is good to build a recognizable brand :D

Now that I'm not front page in your comment section.

I snapped a similar purple flower shot when we were in Tiburon earlier this year.

Class shot there man, love the colours and background/foreground mix

Hey thanks dude! 👊🏼

That looks like a very pretty town :)

Nice pic too!

Sometimes pictures are worth 1000 words. Or maybe 10,000 words. Or words can't explain what you can see — it's Art!

I really loved the pic with the chair.

Maybe you should try auctioning it in the NFT space😃

I have never tried selling any NFTs, other than a single Splinterlands card. Perhaps I should.

Ehh, there is a place on hive. Don't know if you know about it or not.
Nft Showroom Hive

Maybe you should try it for fun😃

I know it, just haven't listed anything there :)

This is very nice, the nature(flowers), the building and the water, do they take boat to the place, because one of the picture i saw boat? From far the sattlement is nice, same colour of building, and the arrangement is in order,You guys should have a nice Day.

Yeah, there are lakes and this goes to the sea, so there is plenty of boating going on

Boat going to the sea, it most really be a nice vacation, you guys should enjoy and have a great time.

Thanks :)

Porvoo is a nice city, been there a few times :)

Yeah it is nice. We are here for two nights, which is probably the max _ but we aren't staying in old town itself - we are about 5km away at a spa hotel. :)

I think your holiday coincided with our traditional 4-days holiday in this month. It also rained a lot here yesterday and fucked up one day of the holiday.

I would like to plant the flowers on photo 13 in my garden!

Rain screws up everything - and it rains a lot here.

Hope the rest of the days were good for you.

Yeah, it rained only half a day.

I wonder what to expect from the meals at a restaurant called "salt"...lol

We ate there last night and it was okay and not very salty thankfully. Although, my wife's dessert was lame!

The photos are great, I must commend your angles, it's perfect. And you're right, the photos did a lot of talking, I do not know the place neither have I ever been there before but just by looking at the photos I sense serenity, it's beautiful. I love the flowers too.

A lit of the buildings are crooked, either from when they were made to fit into some space or, from age where they are falling over a bit. But again, quite pretty!

I'd say old but gold 😊 .

It is a little coastal city in Finland called Porvoo. I don't think many people have been here :)

Oh I see, It must be a beautiful city.
I wish to visit someday.
Have a lovely day Sir 😊.

Loving the photos and to be honest sometimes when it comes to words, I find less can sometimes be more. Some of my favorite authors here are not overly verbose, but there is great substance in what they do say. My own posts are mix of long short and medium, depending on my mood, level of business etc. To be fair though if I share lots of good pics, I am happy to type less words, and your photos are excellent quality, so all good in my book.

Yeah, I am wordy. Not quite the wordiest... But wordy.

I dont like just image posts, as I don't think they add to the social network much. An image with a bit of personality in the words goes a long way though :)

Hope you and your wife get to enjoy some quality time together with the little one taken care of. When i read she was giving you the eye for taking too long i thought... 'we just got this post started.' Then i heard the kiddo is gone. Don't hold up date night browski! hahaha
You did get some really cool shots. I'm curious to see what other texture shots you take tomorrow. Cheers buddy!

Yeah, normally if the little one is around, there is cooking, cleaning and laundry to do... So I am safe ;D

Been nice to get away and because the scenery is so different, it actually feels like we are away, while still in Finland.

Hope you are doing well mate!

I am doing well. Finally made it back over to Sweden. It's nice that y'all got to get out and about and treat yourselves a little.

Those structures do look Swedish in style and color. Just pretend... hahha

The lonely chair, that is a nice picture and would make a good choice for a picture story post.

It brought a deep since of sadness to me as I gazed upon the chair. Empty, no one sitting in it, alone against the wall. I had past the chair and it's occupant many times, always leaving a small token in his can, listening to his stories, stories that will never be told again.

Lol, I hadn't thought of the can as a tip jar at all!

Poor chair...

Haha, I almost heard your wife asking you that question "Are we there yet?". But I feel you with the photo dump posts because even though they require to have the main focus on pictures instead of text, I always end up writing more than it should.

The last picture is my favourite!

Yeah, I try to cut down on the words from time to time - but fail miserably. I think that I write so often, that I have a flow that is about 1000-1200 words and unless I get there, it feels incomplete. It is strange!

If it doesn't bucket down too much today, I hope to get more door pics and do a post with just those :)

Same here! My average is around 1,500 words but in my last travel post I exceeded 2,300 words in no time!

I guess the passion is what contributes the most when you sit down on the chair and start typing. It can be any subject really :)

Sometimes, it just feels like the posts write themselves....

Really very beautiful shots. Words cannot describe so well what we have seen, only pictures can, and especially pictures like yours. Great job.

I agree - there are some images that are just made to use again :)
