A Boxing Day Sublime and Beautiful Sunday Post
This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.
For this week I will share a few shots of flowers I got during the year, but first let me touch on the title of this post ie.
#Boxing day
Boxing day is the day after Christmas, or at least that's what we called it in New Zealand when I was growing up and it used to be a holiday as well, but I don't think it is known that well here in the United states, so I thought I would talk about it a little.
And if your thinking its do with the squared ring and boxing gloves, nope its nothing to do with that no fisticuffs involved LOL
I have heard different stories about it, such as boxing up gifts that one may want to exchange for something else being one of them, but I did some research on it a few years ago and believe the real basis of the custom is linked to an older ( even older than me) British tradition where the servants of the wealthy ( again definitely not me) were given the day after Christmas off to visit their families since they would have had to serve their masters on Christmas Day.
The employers would give each servant a box to take home containing gifts, bonuses, and sometimes leftover food.
And I think that spilled over to recent times to the tradition of giving a gift or cash to some people who work for you in one way or another, such as the Postie/Mail deliver person, and even to the practice in some companies to give Christmas Bonuses to staff.
But that all said what do I remember most about Boxing day when I was growing up, well bear in mind in New Zealand Christmas is in the middle of summer, and we would often celebrate it with family time playing outdoors, or a visit to the beach or a river for a nice day in the sun and the water, I think Boxing day could well have been one of the busiest beach days back then, I wonder if it still is?
OK that's my random Waffling done lets get to some flowers

We haven't had snowfall on Christmas Eve in quite a while. When the kids were young we have sometimes had snowfall on that day and lovely walks in the snow with them before they got their Christmas presents 🎁

Growing up it was also referred to here as Boxing Day, yes poor keepers of the house had to work Christmas day then only go home to family a day later.
Flowers always stunning when captured with a bee, happy Sunday!
I thought it may have been the same day
I hope you had a lovely Christmas
Was Boxing day then changed in 1994 to day of Goodwill.
Had a wonderful Christmas day outdoors, hope you and Lulu also enjoyed your day.
I had not heard of that but it is a great idea the Day of Goodwill
Ohh yes we had a great day

Beautiful photos my friend, I wish you a happy Sunday. 🎄😄
Thanks Kindly, you to have a Great day
Beautiful shots of the flowers. Flowers always seem perfectly imperfect to me. There is something about their little flaws that make them so much more beautiful.
Now THIS would be the way to settle bad feelings about a poorly chosen gift or a relative eating too much of your favorite Christmas dinner item!
Perfectly imperfect what a great way to describe flowers I so agree
and LOL yeah that would be one way to solve those issues and maybe fun for those not involved to watch
Pretty Photography dear @tattoodjay, Nature at it's most beautiful form... Gorgeous photography-style! ❤️
nice shots , the blue flower is the Cichorei , the purple flower is an aster and the yellow one looks like a Oenothera .
Thanks for the info :)
have a great day

I love peace and during winter I often rescue them when they get tired. Not many days ago I rescued a bumblebee but it didn't make it through the night and now it's buried by my oak tree. Beautiful pictures and we don't have boxing Day in Spain but of course we are constantly eating leftovers from the holidays we continue celebrating until the 12th night in January
Thanks for sharing your interesting story, @tattoodjay. The second photo is my favorite. The blue flower should have many, many more emotions ... Do you agree?
Happy Holidays!
Thanks for your visit
I agree with you about the blue flowers
Happy Holidays
I think I heard about Boxing Day before when I was in US but I just did a search and seems it's more of a British thing.
Yes Indeed it is very Much a British and the colonies thing
Have a great day
