A foggy morning on Popes Island
On a recent early morning visit to Popes Island here in New Bedford there was a light hazy fog over the water which made for some cool surreal looking images which I will share here in this post.

I do love mornings like this I find the fog quite soothing and calming and the air almost seems fresher than normal.
Now fog in other areas, like the nearby cemetery can give a totally different feeling a moody gloomy and dark feel. but by the water for me its the opposite.
Of course when its a really dense fog and you can hardly see more than a few feet in front of you isnt so nice and terrible to have to drive in.
How do you feel when out in foggy areas?

Working on a fishing boat must be such a tough job, out very early morning often dealing with harsh conditions on the water, I must admit that does pass through my mind when I eat fish, thinking of the hard work fisherman have put in to catch it so we can eat it.
and I did mention dangerous I remember reading last year of a couple of incidents where commercial fisherman lost their lives at sea.

and finishing off with another shot of the empty docks inthe marina, a nice glow onthe horizon, I am sure before long I will see the private boats returning tot he water and this marina being full again

Nice photos. Fog does put a surreal feel on the photos. I think you are correct that the feelings you have when encountering fog depend on your surroundings. Always eerie in cemeteries. When I see fog, especially heavy fog, on the water I always think of a horror story named The Fog. It was one of the first horror novels I read when I was still a teenager and it stuck in my head.
I know that novel I also read it may years ago and had forgotten about it,I am sure it will come to mind next time I am out and about in the fog :)

Your photos around the marina and fishing boats are awesome. That bit of fog really gives the sunrise a nice atmosphere.
My feelings towards fog are the same as yours. I love to be out in the morning when there's a little fog that will lift once the sun gathers strength. It's a kind of magic and calm.
But the cold, heavy fog that lingers the whole day? No thank you!
Ohh yes we feel the same about fog for sure, the winter one that stays all day and is so damp itsd gets intpo ones bones is not fun at all, but a nice soft fog is indeed mysterious and magical

Oh wow, those are some really great shots. I have always loved the color combination of blue and orange, so that last one is really speaking to me. That first one though. The mood it sets is just really hitting home for me.

Really cool photos. I like how the fog makes the lights look on the boats. We get really dense fog here every once in a while. So dense that we can't see the houses on the other side of the neighborhood. They are usually during the day, so we just try to not drive if it is a heavy fog! Driving in fog at night around here is terrible - no street lights and cars have insanely bright lights usually. It's super dangerous.
