A Miniature Market Friday

A Miniature Market Friday

A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.

For this weeks post, I am going for a virtual market again and sharing some shots taken in my basement with the lightbox I have, and is a follow on from my Mini market Friday post.
so the subject is a couple of more of the little houses/markets in my coca cola village collection.
Now I bought one of these in a market one day which lead to me buying more over the years so that is sort of market related and add that the fact that a couple of these are a cafe and a five and dime, I think that gets me in with using the market Friday tag :)

Now I am pretty sure this one of a North Side Cafe is the first one I bought with the Coca Cola theme, and I picked it up in a little craft/Flea Market but I cannot remember where.

Years ago when I was single and working in NYC, I used to every now and again need a break and had a travel agent that I had used a lot and he got to know me well, and it got to the point I would call him up and say I need a break and I have Friday and Monday off, and he would call me back usually within half an hour saying can you be at the airport in 45 Minutes, and I would say sure and he would tell me which airline counter to go to to pic up my ticket.
Now reading this you may well think, but the travel agent and myself didn't discuss where to, and that's true, I had used him many times and he knew I just wanted to go somewhere I had not been before, and I often found out where I was going when I got to the airline counter at the airport

I did this probably 20 or 30 times and lead to some interesting weekends visiting places I may never have gone to otherwise.

Ok you may think what has this to do with this post and the Coca Cola Village set, well on one of these trips, and I think it was to somewhere in the Midwest, on the flight I got talking to the couple sitting in the row of seats with me, and they were heading home to a small country town which was having an arts and crafts festival that weekend, and I thought that sounded interesting and I ended up hitching a lift with them for the two hour trip to the town.
Luckily it wasn't a huge festival that drew in crowds from afar and I found a room in a hotel there, and explored the festival and in one of the vendors displays I found this North Side Café miniature house.

I do love the cool details on these pieces

and to finish off the story of that weekend, as the festival wasn't huge maybe 60 or 70 vendors, country music playing in a couple of spots , but luckily the hotel I stayed at was near a big open area with trails and streams so I had a good time enjoying nature and being away from the concrete Jungle of NYC

But enough waffling on, thats how I got the first one in this set, and slowly I picked up more

Have a great day

Some awesome pieces man! I love visiting markets like that and finding gems. Glad you were able to hop on with that couple to check that out, I love those random encounters!

As much as I don’t like Coke, they do make some pretty cool older things like this.

Thanks, I was real bad for drinking Coke back in the day, but a lot better these days

Haha yeah they were delicious. My favorite was coke and cheese pizza! Good combo. I couldn’t tell you the last time I drank one. At least 6 or 7 years lol

Ohh yeah coke and Pizza do go well together, thats perhaps one time I do have coke lOL

its so beautiful it looks like a ceramic piece

Have a great day

You are very much welcome. I am new on this platform, I hope I could get a follow from you and also appreciate any support I can get.

It looks like your lightbox is working out quite well. My #marketfriday was also remote, as I was recalling England again, as I sit carless at home :)

Yes havign fun with it, have a few other ideas for it :)

Off to check your post now :)

Those are really cool. I wonder if my friend that we were talking about before has ever seen these. I bet he would love them. I could see him building a big display for all of them. Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you congrats the other day I see a Kiwi won the countries first Gold medal ever. I snowboarding I think it was.

When I first started collecting them I had an idea to one day build a train set and use these for a village around the tracks, have not got any train set pieces yet but maybe one day :)

Yeah a 20 year old Snow Boarder surprised many to win that gold and yes our first Gold in the winter Olympics

That would be super cool. Model railroads have always fascinated me.

Ohh me to, where I grew up was a place aptly called Lilliput which was a huge place with multiple train track setups, I would go there often and thats where my dream of building one started i guess

Your collection looks so neat!! are they vintage collectibles ?

Thanks kindly your support is appreciated
I dont think they are that old, now I am curious and will have to look it up
Have a great day

These models do make for an amazing collectible though.

Yeah I had a plan to build a model railway and have these around the tracks
Maybe one say I will do that

Frankly and honestly - the photos surpass the advertised drink by light years.

Thanks kindly your support is appreciated
So kind if you to say
Have a great day

... only telling the truth!

Thanks again

Have a great day

Such a cute collection and the story of how you started your collection is very interesting. I miss going to art and craft fairs.

It has been a while since I went to a craft fair also

I hope this year more are open and to catch one or more

Great pictures of the miniature souvenirs, you have travelled extensively and am glad you shared these pictures of your collections with us. My aim is to travel that far and wide.Learning and growing as I go, there are challenges with covid situation but hopefully things will get better. Thank you for sharing and happy weekend :}

Thanks
Yes Covid has slowed the whole world down hasn’t it

So many have had to put off travel plans
But let’s hope the end is in sight

Sorry took so long for me to drop by... and Ghad sir it was worth it! I scrolled up and down several times already admiring the miniature house.

Wife would love that on her collection.

And thank you for using our tags #proofofbrain and #vyb

Thanks kindly your support is appreciated

Have a great day

Those houses are so neat! They have a great deal of detail in them. Love them!

Thanks 🙏
Maybe ne day I will buy a train set and put these around it

Now I have to ask the question, how old are these?

Possibly fifty years which would make them antique, details on each one speaks of charm, detail, loaded with character, an era when things were made to last/look superb.

To be honest I have no idea
I should do some research on them

Would be interesting to find out, may be worth quite a bit if antique.

I will do some research today
