a recent visit to the zoo
Good Morning I hope your week has gone well and wishing you a good weekend
My week went pretty well I got out a few times for early morning walks and with my camera and tripod, for those walks I was only taking my smallest lens the 17-28mm to keep the weight i was carrying low,
But I decided to see how I would cope with a bigger lens, so went to the Buttonwood Park Zoo here in New Bedford and took my medium ish lens the 50-400mm since I am now out to the window where my surgeon told me to be careful lifting anything heavy.
INitially I felt fine walking around with it, but after a while I did start to feel some pressure of pulling around my stomach where the two surgeries were , nothing to bad, but I decided to be sensible and put the camera away and head out of the zoo, so wasnt as long there as I initially planned but still had a nice visit and got a few shots, some of which I will share today
The Buttonwood Park Zoo, located in New Bedford, Massachusetts, is a zoo located in the center of Buttonwood Park. Opened in 1894, it is the third-oldest zoo in New England and the 12th-oldest zoo in the United States. Located on a 7 acres (2.8 ha) campus, the zoo is owned and operated by the City of New Bedford, with the support of the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society. It is located on part of the Buttonwood Park Historic District, and federally designated on the National Register of Historic Places.
The zoo is home to more 250 different animals made up of more than 80 different species of animals, including many that are rare and endangered

Wow, it must be a much larger zoo than I first assumed. I never would have guessed they have that many animals there. That is pretty cool. The shots look great. Smart idea to take it easy. We don't want you back in the hospital anytime soon!
It's a reasonable size not huge but good for a visit
Yeah I don't want any more hospital time so taking it easy felt it a bit later that day but not to bad

Have a great day
Nice pics especially the bobcat.
Have a great day
Thanks 🙏
Nothing says zoo like the elephants 🙂 and I know I'm just a stubborn old guy but I still call American Bison buffaloes or even Tatanka if I've watched Dances with Wolves lately lol
lol 😜
Good for you for getting out and pressing your limits. Recovery is SO dynamic. I hope being out wasn't too hard on you. I always enjoy your posts ❤️❤️
Thanks so much I did feel it later but not to bad
Smart move, when you feel strain like that it's best to rest! You got some nice animal pictures though, zoos are always a lot of fun. I've always liked the San Diego Zoo quite a bit, only problem is it's almost all uphill. On the flipside on the way back to the car it's all downhill!
The San Diego zoo is one I always wanted to visit but now knowing it's all uphill maybe not so much lol
Interesting animal pictures, especially cats relaxing
Thanks kindly your support is appreciated
Have a great day
You're welcome, have a nice day too friend
That is a nice little zoo for the size. Did the animals seem like they would be comfortable?
Glad you didn't push it and overdue it on the walk. Keep taking care, postive thoughts for continued healing.
I think some of the enclosure were a little tight but not to bad
That's good. I was just curious.
I’m a fan of zoos. I’ve been fortunate to have been to zoos with pandas as well. The Washington DC zoo had them when I was there. I’d love to do a safari. Maybe someday
I did a safari in Tanzania years ago was an amazing experience seeing the animals in their natural environment
I’m soooooo jealous that’s awesome.
Huh, I had no idea we had a zoo in New Bedford.
Love the whaling museum and the cool old library. I'll have to give the zoo a visit sometime when friends visit.
Sad rto say I havent made it to check out the whaling museum yet
