Another Piece of the DATMA sponsored Shelter 3023 Art exhibit
This follows on from last couple of posts and is another piece of the Shelter 2023 art exhibit hosted by DATMA
now if you didn't see yesterdays post you may wonder what DATMA is so here goes
DATMA is committed to bringing world-renowned art, design, and technology exhibitions, programs, and initiatives to the sidewalks and streets of SouthCoast, Massachusetts.
Identified as one of the Commonwealth’s most creative economies by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, DATMA has a headquarters in New Bedford where it has worked with talented artists and organizations on collaborative projects that leave you inspired and energized.
I loved when I was working in NYC discovering new Art which was always popping up around the city, and to be honest I didn't expect there to much art here in New Bedford, as some people had led me to believe it was a rough and ready city.
Well I must say I have found it to be a beautiful city and love the fact that it embraces art and was pleased to come across these new piece son display recently.
The piece I am sharing with you today is by an artist Silvia Lopez Chavez and is entitled community tides
As you can see in this first photos showing the building and all the piece it was a foggy moody morning and I am not sure my photos do it justice

The art is on the side of a fish processing building at least that's what I think it is used for, on Popes Island

I found this piece quite eye catching myself and love how each panel displays some of the activities available here in New Bedford
the Location may not be ideal for it to be noticed by to many people, its just before the Swing Bridge as you cross the Island heading to Fairhaven and i am sure so many drive right on by and never notice it which is a shame

Nice upgrade to an otherwise indiscrete, boring commercial building 👍 I'm sure it adds alot to the area even if not many people wonder by.
Indeed turns a rather boring looking building into something eye catching
I am also surprised at the amount of artwork on the streets of New Bedford, JJ - and even though this may be in a lesser-viewed area, it gives a different area of the city a boost. I suppose they could have put on a more traveled road, but, it speaks volumes to me about putting in an area that may not get many beautification projects going on.
I love this and the brilliant colors. Great show for the day!
I discovered a few more pieces on a walk yesterday morning down near the port
and yes that spot looked pretty boring and now pops out with character for sure
That's awesome. What a surprise New Bedford is! It has the small town feel, but big on ammenities and beauty.
It's crazy Photography 😊❤ Huge respect. Keep up the good work.
👍🙂👍
