Market Friday

Market Friday

A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.

For this weeks post, I am sharing some shots taken of a walk around Fairhaven, a neighboring town to New Bedford, not a big town the population is around 16,000, compared to New Bedford where I live with a population over 100,00o.
But it is a charming area to walk, well at the least the part I explored recently lots of historic buildings and churches ( which I will share in another post sometime) but for this post being a market Friday I will focus on shops.

Starting with the Post office, which I did pop into to get some international stamps over a month ago, and there still sitting on our dining table, time slipped by and we never got around to sending out Christmas Cards last year, well at least we prepared with cards and stamps for the end of this year

I am not sure what this building is used for these days the writing above the doorway says the Fairhaven Institute for savings so I guess it was a Bank at some stage and still may be

Next up this building with a couple of shops at ground level, but what caught my eye is that blue bin on a green stand I saw a couple of those on the walk, and if they are rubbish bins, they have a unique style to them, I guess could be handy if your driving by with some rubbish in your car, you can pull over and with the angle easily throw your rubbish into them, but I feel that's not the real purpose of them

Next up we have the little village cafe, I was a bit peekish at the time and considered popping in to see what they had, but this was a quick walk and then I was picking up Lulu from an appointment as we were going for lunch so I showed some self control and walked on by.

And the last shot, of this building which is a Chinese Restaurant, as it happened we did pick up Chinese for lunch that day, but from one closer to home.

In the background you can see one of the Churches there, but like I said will share shots of it ina future post.

These look really nice, I like these old brick stone buildings in orange and white.

I don't think we have sent any Christmas cards in the past 10 years.

Small towns have their own charm.

We have only one friend who still sends a card each year, but she never gets one from us 😉

For this weeks post, I am sharing some shots taken of a walk around Fairhaven, a neighboring town to New Bedford, not a big town the population is around 16,000, compared to New Bedford where I live with a population over 100,00o.

The city (Szolnok, Hungary), in which I currently work currently has a population of 69 725 people. Nowadays I live in a small village with a population of approximately 200 people.

Your city looks similar to Szolnok, where I currently work, but Szolnok is bigger (in area) than New Bedford.

New Bedford: 62.42 km².
Szolnok: 187.2 km².

Happy New Year.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

Sounds like your city is more open, some of the streets here are very narrow and tight to drive down

Old buildings appear to have been built around the same time, possibly same architect and brickwork factory making them appealing to be one with each other.

Nicely laid out town, also exceptionally clean in appearance, pleasure to take the walk with you through your market space.

Yes quite similar design on a few in this area, and yes they clearly take a lot of pride in their town it is so clean

It reminds me much of yesteryear here, alas no longer!

Those are some pretty cool old buildings. The bank and the post office almost look like the same building in some respects. Awesome photos. I can't wait to see the other ones of the churches.

I do love that area, I must work on editing the photos of the churches

have a great day
