Market Friday

Market Friday

A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.

For this weeks post, a follow on in a way from last weeks post where I showed some shots of the rides at the Whaling City Festival held recently here in Buttonwood Park.

In that post I mentioned how I was there before the rides opened and people where around and doubted I would go back to it, but as it happened i forgot about the Car show they have on the Sunday as part of this festival, and I do like visiting that and checking it out.

I did the same last year and got there early morning as cars where starting to arrive and the carnival not open as yet, but this year I went around midday and when I got to the end of the car show I saw the street of vendors, well there was a couple of streets of them, but I only walked this one and will share some of the vendors today

Starting with this stall of the Army National Guard

It may look busy from these photos but there was plenty of people walking along the vendors and I tried to get shots of the vendors when gaps in people opened up

this tent was for the American veteran Nation a group that support Veterans, I spoke to them briefly and gave a donation

Next up the Go Army tent, you may notice a theme to the first three shots, well that's probably because I was in the army for 12 years all be it the NZ army

Also in my travels I worked in Rwanda just after the genocide there so seeing this tent reminded me of my time there

I know some of these vendor sale for cause but where I live taking shots of such stands could sometimes be dangerous. Some people don't like being photographed "at work". By the looks of a few of them I see it's similar there? :D

Whenever we tried to get a click on road, if people come in the picture really they're just like that which you captured.

We also have different stall on roadside. And we can buy things with good prices.

Have a happy Friday 😊

Haha that look on that guy's face is priceless!

I was at the market some weeks ago and as you, I also feel uncomfortable taking shots with people's face for this reason. I also don't appreciate it the other way around, so there's that. But then I found it hard to even take pictures without people so my pictures suck and I never made a market Friday post in the end.

Your pics look nice though! And I will take your tip and check out @dswigle's account, thank you!

From armed forces to Pokemon lol Interesting booths. Happy Friday 🙂

So difficult to take photos sometimes when there are people around. I have some photos like that too with weird looks… !LOL

I also avoid taking shots of people, but during festivals it can't be helped!

Haha! I love that guy's look! :) I am sure you aren't the first nor the last that will catch him. I have never had anyone really annoyed when I get a shot I didn't mean to. Fortunately, it usually ends well.

Seems like there was a plethora of Army there! Do they have a campaign going? There is a big military presence here, so there is always high visibility going on, but normally it is just onesies, twosies in a town.

Nice show, nevertheless and I do love these small-town shows of different agendas. This must have been a fun day!

Thanks always for being part of the challenge!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

I must say I was kind of amused when I saw his look but he never said anything so it was all good

I did wonder about all the military spots not sure why that was

A push for the Army, I would guess. With good reason...

Recruitment numbers continue to decline across the nation impacting several branches of the military. The Army missed its recruiting mission for Fiscal Year 2022 by 25% or 15,000 soldiers, and more branches are expecting recruiting shortfalls for this fiscal year which ends September 30th.

That could well be it maybe they are hitting all such events
