Over the Icy Pond

I haven't been out to much with my New Camera as yet, mainly due to the weather not being ideal, its either been to cold and icy for me or when the weather is nicer its generally raining, but I did brave the cold one morning for a short walk by the Pond in Buttonwood Park

It wasn't a spectacular sunrise but was nice to be out getting some fresh air, and you can see the pond was mostly covered with ice.
I don't think I have seen it thick enough to go skating on, but I have heard people who used to skate on there, and we have had some cold spells so maybe it was.
I wont be trying it out myself, I have tried ice skating twice and lets just say my sense of balance clearly isn't what is needed for ice skating, I spent most of the time sitting on the ice or struggling to get back up standing only very quickly to fall again.

So if I ever seen people out skating on the pond I will not join them but make take photos of course :)

I think those that follow me and have bene for a while will know when I take a walk by this pond I cant resist getting some shots of the trees on the edge of it particularly this one

Beautiful shots! This time of year can be tough. Just when the temps start getting into the right zone for outside activities then the perpetual rain comes. It makes everything muddy and much less appealing.

Ohh yeah thats so true, but slowly it seems ot be warming up we have had a couple of days in the low 50s and looking to trend up in the next two weeks, soon spring will be here

Lovely beautiful icy ponds @tattoodjay Its' funny as it's not been cold enough long enough this Winter to skate on ponds, my MIL lives on one and we've not skated on it in years. Today it's gorgeous out, if a bit windy, but good walking weather. Hope you have a good day

Definitely nit enough ice on the pads here for skating since I moved here but have seen comments of people skating on then when younger

Gentle early morning lighting affords one an amazing spectrum of colour, water enhances it so well. Bare tree will soon start getting leaves once again, sounds like you enjoyed a brisk morning outdoors.

Third shot with naked tree silhouetted against sunrise is my favorite. My boys both learned to skate when they were very young. Big advantage when you are closer to the ice. Don't fall as hard haha
