Rusty details at the port

Rusty details at the port

Good morning all have a great day or if your reading this in the evening I hope you have had a good day

On a recent walk I took around the port, and what caught my eye on this walk was all the cool rusty detail around the port, not surprising by the salty sea water of course, now some find rust unattractive, but I find it quite cool and perhaps you may also after seeing these photos

Starting with this number 39 on the side of a metal structure floating and tied up at the port.

And on top of this platform were these things, I am not sure what they purpose is but they caught my eye

And on one of the commercial was this change and pulley all with nice rusty detail.
Many of the fishing boats have pulleys on them I am guessing there for lowering and pulling up nets or traps in and out of the ocean

The other thing that caught my eye and always does are the ropes tying the boats up to the port, I got a few shots of them where they were tied up to rusty, Hmmm what are those things called, I think a small one may be a cleat but is that what these larger ones on the pier are called, I have no idea do feel free to enlighten me.

I love this type of photography, I am also passionate about rusty metals
What a beautiful walk dear friend @tattoodjay and what good shots you have taken
have a great day

Thanks so much many see rust as ugly but in the right setting it can stand out

Have a great day

I really have a problem with rust when it is on my cast iron pans. Other than that, I don't really mind. I can only imagine how corrosive the sea water is. I used to do some work for a water treatment plant and the chemicals mixed with the moisture in the air would really do a number on the computer cases.

Ohh yeah I know what you mean about the cast Iron pans

I grew up by the coast and rust was an issue on so many things, but I still find it interesting in some scenes

Those small details are always interesting to see :) what is the thing with the numbers for?

Thanks for your visit

the number is on some big floating metal platform

You do find the most fascinating angles on things that might just pass under the nose of other people. I do like the iron oxidization as a reminder of time passed, of hard work done while braving the elements. The number seems to have layers of colour representing eras and many more than just rust.

I can almost feel those prickly, creaking ropes in my hand too.

Awesome moments once again.

thanks for such a kind and supportive comment
I to noticed the colors and layers on that number i am sur eit must have some stories to tell

These pictures are beautiful. And really, an artist can record the best photos even if the scenery and objects are rusty and look at it from a different perspective.

I so enjoyed these photos. Patina and rust on metal is great and gives everything a bit of an antique look, those things have been places and seen things, you know? They have history.

Yes, I think a cleat hook is the correct terminology so don't think that the size of it would change the name.
