A couple of weeks ago, I was at a waterfall doing photos when a hawk decided that it did not like my drone. It quickly swooped in and knocked it out of the sky and straight down into the water. I got it out of the water as soon as I could but it was dead and would not turn on. I chalked it up as a loss, but after I got home I read that it could be saved! By simply letting it air out and dry for a week or two.
I decided it couldn't hurt to try, especially since it was a fix with no effort and I have back up batteries (forums said the battery would never work again). Nearly 2 weeks later and I put a battery in, the drone started as usual. I even put the battery that was in it in the water and to my surprise it worked as well! I charged the battery and made my way outside for sunset.
The first attempt to take off was successful, for a few seconds. The remote lost signal to the drone and it shot up into the sky. Thinking it was gone for sure this time, it started to come back down on its own. The return home function had taken over and it landed. I tinkered with the remote connection and put it back up, and it worked perfectly! I flew it around downtown Hamilton Ont. snapping a few shots of an old building and the sunset.
How incredible is it that this camera has been resurrected!
Wow, nice building 😮
