First night in "Laguna Bacalar". A place where I would stay to live forever, as long as you have a good solar energy system installed because both electricity and telecommunications are precarious. And it is that we are in the middle of the jungle and on the shores of an immense freshwater lagoon and no, it is not the Caribbean but inland.
A place of peace, relaxation and meditation, with minimal but complete and clean services.
Too bad it's so far from home because as a shelter from the city it's excellent.
Some photos taken between last night and this morning to give you an idea of where we are.
It must also be said that the heat here is quite high, we are at 33 degrees during the day and it drops to 25 at night, the humidity is 100% but we have refreshing supplies and we take baths in the lagoon every so often.
This part of Mexico is pleasantly surprising me. I don't know why I had a worse idea of this country but I find that both the landscape and its people are wonderful.
Looks beautiful and different than the touristy destinations of Cabo and Puerto Vallarta that I’m used to as an American. Thanks for sharing! Added to my travel list.
PV def has a "touristy side", but head north a lil bit to Bucerias, La Cruz, Mita, Higuera Blanca, and Pancho, and it's a completely different world. Sure there are some ex-pats everywhere, but it's def not like Cancun :) Lmk next time you make it down :)
It’s just 4 hours driving from Cancun, close to Belize and not crowded at all
We stayed in Bacalar and loved it, great choice of cafes and restaurants. Lovely and clean and chilled vibes.
Humidity is definitely a killer.
