Hey guys! I'm travelling in Mexico City again and a few days ago I finally had the opportunity to capture some rainy weather here. I love doing street photography in the rain, but in Mexico City it hardly ever rains between January and March. But on this day I was lucky.
Hallo Leute! Ich bin wieder mal in Mexiko Stadt unterwegs und vor wenigen Tagen hatte ich hier endlich mal die Gelegenheit, regnerisches Wetter fotografisch einzufangen. Ich liebe es, Straßenfotografie im Regen zu betreiben, doch in Mexico City regnet es zwischen Jänner und März eigentlich kaum. Doch an diesem Tag hatte ich Glück.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time for an extensive photo tour, so I simply took advantage of a short drive in the passenger seat and took photos through the windscreen and side windows. I also only had my smartphone with me. So the circumstances weren't ideal, but that presented a nice challenge for my photography.
Für eine ausgiebige Foto-Tour hatte ich leider keine Zeit, also nutzte ich einfach eine kurze Aufofahrt auf dem Beifahrersitz und fotografierte durch die Windschutzscheibe und die Seitenfenster. Außerdem hatte ich nur mein Smartphone dabei. Die Umstände waren also nicht optimal, aber genau das stellte eine nette Herausforderung für meine Fotografie dar.
The car journey took us through rather village-like neighbourhoods in the south of the metropolis. I found interesting subjects and scenes of daily life on every street corner and the telephoto camera on my Pixel 8 Pro consistently delivered usable snapshots. With a focal length equivalent of 113mm, I was able to get relatively close to most of the subjects.
Die Autofahrt ging durch eher dörflich anmutende Stadtteile im Süden der Metropole. An jeder Straßenecke fand ich interessante Motive und Szenen des täglichen Lebens und die Tele-Kamera meines Pixel 8 Pro lieferte konstant brauchbare Schnappschüsse. Mit einem Brennweitenäquivalent von 113mm kam ich relativ nah an die meisten Motive heran.
In post-processing, in addition to color grading, I tried to get rid of the typical smartphone look of the images. Phone shots are usually oversharpened, image noise is smoothed out and there is a tendency towards an HDR look. I can therefore recommend that you turn the sliders in Lightroom mainly in the negative direction when post-processing most phone photos. This mainly concerns clarity, contrast and sharpness. A vignette and slight image noise also help to give the photos a more professional look. I hope you like my results.
In der Nachbearbeitung versuchte ich, neben dem Color Grading, diesen typischen Smartphone-Look der Bilder loszuwerden. Handyfotos sind meist start überschärft, Bildrauschen wird glattgebügelt und eine es gibt eine Tendenz zum HDR-Look. Ich kann euch deshalb empfehlen, bei der Nachberbeitung von den meisten Handyfotos, die Regler in Lightroom hauptsächlich in die negative Richtung zu drehen. Das betrifft vor allem Klarheit, Kontrast und Schärfe. Außerdem hilft eine Vignette und ein leichtes Bildrauschen, den Fotos einen professionelleren Look zu verleihen. Ich hoffe meine Ergebnisse gefallen euch.
