A miraculous sunset at Pedra Furada.

Jericoacoara is one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil, and according to The Washington Post, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Located 317 Km from Fortaleza with perfect weather all year long, it is one of the most popular touristic destinations in the country.

The most famous spot of Jericoacoara is “Pedra Furada”, a rocky formation in the shape of an arch. Visitors flood by the hundreds to take an Instagramable picture with it.

I visited back in January 2007, Instagram wasn’t a thing yet so I spend more time gazing at this marvel of nature than taking pictures, as it should be. We were planning to head back to the hotel before sunset, as this attraction is about 30 minutes from the hotel's village but one local told us to wait.

Here is the thing: a phenomenon takes place at this rock but only a few days of the year, when the sun is perfectly positioned and sets into the ocean exactly in the middle of the arch. We decided to take our chances and wait and dear God it paid off.

It is one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever witnessed!

Nature beauty is truely beautifull

Those are some amazing shots. 😍 Would have loved to see more of this ‘most beautiful beach in the world’. I’ve never been to Brazil, and would love to visit it some day.
