Hello, photography enthusiasts and professionals. I hope you enjoyed the first part of my post about the Vladytski Bridge. Now, I continue in the same style, but I will tell you about another place near the bridge.
After that, I made the decision to travel around various towns and villages in Bulgaria in my free time to capture ancient and interesting places worth visiting, as well as historical sites. It's a very exciting and curious feeling for me, and I hope that when I share my stories and experiences, it will also be enjoyable for you.
This is the village of Arbanasi, near Veliko Tarnovo. We visited various streets, and one of the local churches – here’s the story behind it. The Church of the Nativity of Christ is located in the village of Arbanasi. It was built in the 16th century and has been reconstructed multiple times. The interior is entirely painted with frescoes from the 16th-17th centuries. Wood carvings decorate the iconostasis of the main church. The original iconostasis was from 1636, but it was replaced with the current one in the 18th century. It is one of the earliest examples of Bulgarian wood carving art.
We freely explored the entire yard, sat on a bench, and spoke with one of the priests who invited us to enter. However, we weren’t prepared because the entrance fee was quite high. But apparently, this is because it is both a church and a museum. So if you want to visit the inside, be prepared that it costs money. After that, we continued our walk to the end of the street, covering one half of the village, which took us about two hours on foot at a moderate pace. Overall, I think it would take around 4-5 hours to walk through the whole village along the main streets. If you plan to visit the sights as well, it’s a good idea to dedicate a full day to the village. Once you explore the village, you can also take a walk to Veliko Tarnovo, which is only four kilometers away.
Greetings, kisses, and see you soon from me!
