I can think about three points.

  1. Smaller cities in Thailand have fewer cats and more dogs. Bangkok is a cat place since the foundation I believe - the city of palaces and wats, they inherited this tradition from the old capital Ayutthaya.
  2. You probably often don't notice those tiny guys sneaking and lurking around your feet. I saw 6 cats yesterday on Khaosan Road, a super noise nightlife place.
  3. Places where you stay and hang out in Pattaya aren't popular among cats.
