This weekend I had an incredible experience with metaphotography, the act of taking photos and being captured on camera while doing so. The chosen location was the bay of Santiago de Cuba, a place that perfectly reflects the vibe of the city between the sea and the mountains.
The photos were taken by one of my usual acquaintances, Anita Lors. While we were talking about life, photography, and art in general, the afternoon flew by like the seagulls trying to capture us on camera. Those moments of concentration, appreciating the present moment or simply exploring the other through the lens, are what make this type of photography so interesting.
Contemplation is often put in the background, especially in a time like this where personal expression has become the center of most artistic projects. That's why this type of experiment, which attempts to combine both contemplation and expression using the other as a medium, is already emerging as a good path to be explored by contemporary art.
After creating content for our platforms (yes, because the digital age is like that and demands that you not only have a moment of leisure but also be productive at all times) we closed with a long debate about how our emotional state was reflected in what we were doing on an artistic level and a little, of course, in the format in which we would use the content for that afternoon (Ana in this YouTube video: and me in This Reel: to promote my music) to try to make our dreams self-sustaining in one way or another, linked to the artistic world.

Este fin de semana viví una experiencia increíble con la metafotografia, el acto de tomar fotos y ser capturado en cámara mientras hacía esta acción. El lugar elegido fue la bahía de Santiago de Cuba, un sitio que refleja a la perfección esas vibras de la ciudad entre el mar y la montaña.
Las fotos me las tomo una de mis compinches habituales Anita Lors, mientras hablábamos de la vida, fotografía y arte en general, se nos fue la tarde volando como las gaviotas qué intentaba os captar en cámara. Esos momentos de concentración por apreciar el momento presente o simplemente explorar al otro a través del lente son los que hace a este tipo de fotografía algo tan interesante.
Muchas veces se pone a la contemplación en un segundo plano y más en una época como esta donde la expresión personal ha pasado a estar en el centro de la mayoría de proyectos artísticos. Por eso este tipo de experimentos donde se intenta combinar tanto la contemplación como la expresión usando al otro como medio ya se deja ver como una buena ruta a ser explorada por el arte contemporáneo.
Luego de crear contenido para nuestras plataformas (si porque la era digital es así y te exige no solo tener un momento de x esparcimiento sino ser productivo en todo momento) cerramos con un largo debate sobre cómo nuestro estado emocional se reflejaba en lo que estábamos haciendo a nivel artístico y un poco, como no, en la foa en la que usaríamos en contenido de esa tarde (Ana en este video de YouTube: y yo en Este Reel: para promocionar mi música) para intentar que de una forma u otra vinculada el mundo artísticos nuestros sueños pudieran ser autosustentables.
