But lately, after having lived this life for these years, he feels for the first time in many years that it is time for a change. He wants to see new faces and perhaps move towards one of the goals that he has never been able to achieve. Until now he plays in the street and collects the tips that they give him in the case where he keeps his violin, but he wants that to end and now he wants to go further. This desire that arises in him at the moment is not for any reason. It is all due to a very peculiar thing that he saw. Look, recently while he was tuning his violin to continue playing in the street, he heard someone who was passing by say that in 3 days at the town theater there was going to be an audition to attend a renowned music academy. And the chosen one, in addition to receiving assistance and better training, would receive a contract to work for several years with a renowned orchestra in the country.
Well, it was that news that made Bert, after so many years, reconsider changing a little the direction he had been taking until now. Obviously, it's not that he had wanted to leave the world of the street, but now the idea that his music could be recognized by more people made him change his mind. That's why just yesterday he got down to work to attend the audition and compete for the academy award. There are only 3 days until the event so time is pressing.
He took advantage of these 3 days to rehearse the best song he could play and thus impress the judges. He already had talent and experience but you never know and even more so when it comes to judges and a large audience. It was funny but even though the day of the performance had not yet arrived he already felt nervous. It was funny because he was a man who had been doing the same thing all his life so the nerves had long since gone. But well this was a new experience for him so yes, the nerves were there to make the experience more complicated.
And then one thing led to another and the days flew by. Well for Bert it was almost an eternity. He says that when you want it to come quickly one day is when it takes the longest. And sometimes it happens the other way around. Well it is the day of the audition. He puts on his best suit and gets in his car and heads out there. When he arrives he gets a reality check. Everyone in the waiting room was in their nice suits and ties. Of course expensive suits. And he, with his jacket, was almost the same age as him. In addition, it was clear from the way they spoke that they were people who already had a reputation but wanted to climb even higher. He also saw that some looked at him with disdain because of his humble origins.
Of course this made him a little nervous but he was not less than them. Because he might be humble but he had a lot of talent and equal or even more skill than them. The difference was that they already had a name in the industry. Still he stood his ground and did not leave. Those who came before him performed excellently. And they got 10/10 from many judges. So surpassing them would be quite a challenge. Many advised him to leave before it was his turn so that he would not be embarrassed. But he did not flinch and told them that he would participate.
When his turn came, he did very well, extremely well. Despite being a humble man, he had more than 30 years of experience under his belt, and that was worth a lot. So it is not surprising that he got a very high score. What surprised everyone is that he got a higher score than even many of the proud people who had previously told him to leave. He is living proof that when you want, you can do it, no matter your origins or your social class. Just talent. The result was that he won the pass to the academy and finally has the opportunity to start a new career, it will be quite an adventure.
