Dave's Story, The guitar that changed my life.

in Rising Star Game14 days ago

Good morning to all my friends, what a beautiful Tuesday, isn't it? At least in my country the day dawned sunny. Strange thing because here in the last every day it rains. 😅. Friends today I bring you a new story. In this case I have dedicated it to the letter 47 Dave. In this story I want to imply that sometimes despite the economic needs we can get ahead and maybe even achieve our goals. I hope you like it. So we begin.

Friends Dave grew up in a very humble home where even the walls seemed to hold secrets of toil. The food was never enough to fill their stomachs and make them feel full. Rather, they had to eat whatever was available. Not that they could eat the things they liked either, there was only the most basic food. His parents had a motto for this situation, Dave just squeezed and swallowed, they told him. The truth is that he was always a very understanding child and knew the situation he was in. That's why he never squealed. As you can imagine with that kind of life he never had enough for luxuries. Toys were stones or branches transformed into swords by imagination.

But you know, my friends, Dave's dreams were big and not oppressed by the real situation in which he lived. In those dreams he had something that no circumstance could take away from him, an indescribable love for music, especially for his favorite instrument, the guitar.

You see, since he was a child, he used to play an old radio that his parents had. It was one of the few pieces of equipment they had in the house with which they could entertain themselves. Sometimes the whole family would get together to listen and then everyone would go off to do their chores. But you know, Dave always stayed with the radio, listening to music until he got tired of it. He preferred a station that only played concert or orchestra music. That is, with no one singing, just the sound of the instruments. He did this in the hope that they would play the music of a guitar. So when they would play it, he would take a piece of wood he had and imagine himself playing that guitar in a concert. You can't imagine how happy he felt at that moment. Of course, after the music was over, the darkness of the situation in which he lived returned.

As his community was close to the city, he often stood in front of the store windows when he had to pass by. He would look at them wanting one, but never asked for one. He knew that at home shoes were more urgent than dreams or wishes. A guitar cost so much that they couldn't pay for it even with months' wages. And for that they would have to stop eating, so it was not logical to do so. So he had to make do with having one in his imagination.

Over the years, Dave grew into a man. Since he was a little boy, his life had not changed much from the one his parents had. For he was still in the same situation of poverty. Now he had found his livelihood in carpentry. A few months ago he opened a small workshop. You know, even though carpentry was not what he initially wanted, in the end he found something special in it. Because for him taking a piece of wood and transforming it into something useful was beautiful, it was the same as creating music but more in a literal style. However, despite the years and all the hardships he had gone through up to that point he still did not forget his dream. He knew or was certain that at some point in his life his dream would come true, he didn't know how, but he would make it happen.

Although you know friends things turned out a little differently than he imagined. You see one afternoon, while helping a customer clean out an old attic, he found a stack of books piled up. Most were technical manuals, but one in particular caught his eye. Although the book itself was in pretty bad shape the letters if clear, it was called, build your own instrument. It was actually a book of detailed plans for building musical instruments, including guitars. He stood still for a moment, as if the world had stopped spinning. The truth is that he had never thought of that, he was a carpenter so he had the means, and now with the book he had the measurements and instructions to make his own guitar. So he asked the man for the book and he gave it to him.

After that, a few days later he got down to work. This work, unlike the others he did, which were always for others, was for him. So he put a lot of effort and dedication. Since he had at stake the hope of achieving his goal of having a guitar of his own. So he began to work guided by the book. He measured, cut, sanded and assembled with enthusiasm, but he knew he had doubts. He didn't know if what he was doing would work, but in the end it didn't matter. The simple act of building the guitar was what he wanted.

Although of course there were setbacks again, life was not going to let it be that easy, because after assembling the neck, he realized that he had measured the dimensions wrong. So he had to start from scratch. And then another afternoon, a neighbor interrupted him to order a piece of furniture, and Dave again had to delay that project to attend to the customer's work. Because of course, he had to eat while he was doing it, so there was money to be made. So what he did was, in between jobs, he spent a few hours working on his guitar project. And so he progressed over the next few months until he finally finished the guitar.

You know when he finished it he could hardly believe it. Yes, it was rustic, imperfect, but for him it was more beautiful than any other, because it was his first guitar. He immediately tried to play it, but he forgot the most important steps, learning to play it in advance. Although that was not a concern for him. He went to the neighbor's house who initially gave him the book to help him learn. He was a retired guitarist who at some point in his life was famous. So he taught Dave how to play in exchange for Dave not charging him for some carpentry work he had done.

So over the weeks of practice, he mastered the guitar. His neighbor was amazed because he couldn't believe that a self-made guitar could be heard as well. He told him that it was almost the same as an original one made by a company. In fact, he told him why he didn't just make them and sell them. So Dave again was amazed at that idea. He hadn't thought of that. Because that way he could help a lot of people who were poor like him and didn't have access to expensive instruments. That's why he decided to change the focus of his carpentry, not so much to make furniture and things like that, but to make low-cost instruments. So a few days later he started that venture.

With this new job he had a multitude of clients, as many people could now access the competitive prices he offered. This new approach to his work allowed him to earn much more money and popularity. So the days of poverty began to be left behind. It didn't take long for demand to outstrip supply and he had to expand and hire more carpenters for his business. It got to the point where his small shop was now a mini-business that was going from strength to strength. And to think it had all started by building his own guitar.

But you know he didn't let this new workload divert him from his goal of being a guitar maker. As the company grew, he delegated work to new employees in order to leave time for himself and his family. And of course his guitar. Over time he came to have many guitars, some very expensive, but the original, the one he had built with his own hands, that was his favorite. Thanks to it he found his way in life and a bright future awaited him.
