I want to clarify that in this song she does not sing alone. She does a collaboration with the singer Sean Paul, who by the way I also follow, he is very good, I recommend him.
Do you remember Chandelier, another of her songs? Well, how could I not remember it? I think it is by far her most famous song. It is explosive and full of a vibe that everyone really likes. Well, in the case of Cheap Thrills, it's not as explosive as that one, I think it's more subtle, even a bit funny. The lyrics themselves have several very interesting messages that are full of good lessons that I think we should all understand. I think, and this is my opinion, that many people should take a little example from what this song tells them, I think that way they would live a little better and less bitter or in the constant hustle of getting more and more money to be happy, I know it sounds like a cliché but sometimes it is forgotten, I myself have forgotten it many times, so it is good to remember it from time to time. It seems that Sia and Paul wanted to tell us that "happiness" in quotes, (I leave it to your discretion), is not necessarily in what costs money, I think they wanted to remember it because there are things that can give much more satisfaction without having to have it. To give you an example, it can be pleasant experiences, or maybe not, relating to others. This is up to you because each of us has things that make us happy, and that's where I would really go into detail, if I had to tell you all that, this post would never end. I would define it as enjoying the simple things, that's all you have to keep in mind.
But I think that we also have to be a little careful, as always, everything in this life has limits, so we should not dedicate ourselves body and soul to living in misery or similar to how the people in a documentary I saw a while ago called “Extreme Cheapskates” lived, there people did absurd things, it was a little funny, I recommend it. In other words, we have to be a little balanced. What I want to say with this is that one does not always have to look for the cheapest option, sometimes it is true that to achieve a certain happiness in this life you do need to progress, so the message of the song should be applied in a middle point. Also, I think that nobody should feel guilty for spending on something that makes us happy.
Yes, because in the end there is only one important thing in all this, value is not what we should prioritize, rather we should look for what makes you feel complete. And the song does a good job of saying it.
