Its great you found a way that works for you to give your child more veggies. Very often, I cook this recipe of pasta together with veggies (and meat) too. I also find it a convinient way to boost my son's diet with veggies.
We often use onion, zucchini, mushroom, bell pepper, asparagus.

As far as I know, when starting giving foods to babies, its better to start with veggies,not fruits. (Carrot, parsnip, sweet potato etc). Thats because they will get used with the sweet taste and after this, its a possibility for them to not want try veggies or worse, accept them.
